aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The brute travelled by memory, the light of the moon being an unreliable source. It shone through here and there, but in the denser parts of the forest, none of the light made it through to the forest floor, being stopped by the web of branches above. After being voted to the position of alpha, the brute had made it his goal to know the entire terra and learn all of its secrets. As it was, he had found many of the hidden groves formed by dense circles of conifers. It was impossible to tell from the outside that there were small clearings within, and so they made for perfect sleeping areas. He preferred these places to the cavernous dens that King Kong had first introduced him to. The groves blocked out the light but allowed fresh air to sweep through, bringing to his nares the scent of the trees and of the other surrounding plants. But this night, it had brought a different scent – a fresh scent of one of the two newly accepted mates. Kal had wanted to get to know them better, and he figured that now was a good time to converse with them.

The brute traveled, trusting his paws to lead him forward safely. His nares served as a compass. Weaving in and out of the trees, his limbs propelled him forward until he came to a clearing. THE clearing. Where the pack meeting had taken place. And there, upon a boulder, stood the blackened fae that was named Magic. The moon shined its line of light right onto her pelt, as if it was highlighting her upon her boulder stage.

Both the fae and the brute had said that they harbored no hard feelings about the outcome of the vote, but Kal had not had the opportunity to speak to either of them since the vote had occurred. He thoroughly hoped that they had been honest – he would hate for there to be hard feelings focused upon him so early in his reign. The brute paused, not wanting to disturb the fae - she seemed to be enjoying the night, the stillness, the peace, perhaps the danger that may lie within the shadows. He was not sure, not knowing Magic on a personal level. It was time to change that. The brute strode forward, his paws silent upon the meadow’s soft earth, but he spoke whilst still a good while away, not wanting to scare or frighten the fae.

Hello, Magic. Beautiful night, is it not? What kept you from slumber?” The brute kept his voice low. It seemed almost a pity to break the silence of the meadow. “I was hoping we could talk and get to know each other. Where is Glitch? I would like to get to know him as well…” The brute kept his body form casual – there were no need for formalities right now. He wanted the fae to know that he was hoping to talk to her as friends, and not from his position. As he neared the boulder, he stopped, sitting his weight upon his haunches. His plume wagged, making decorations in the grass of the meadow. Kalgalath waited patiently for the fae’s answer, allowing time if she wanted to enjoy the night a bit more before answering him.
