During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

The little adolescent paused instantly when he questioned her, and it was an obvious hesitation. Her eyes swiveled to the underbrush to her left and she opened her maw, the hinges closing and opening all the while. Finally words soared and she looked back at him, smiling. "At the river. You know where the river is right? Where all the mushy gushy gather? I swam across it!" She grinned courageously and squared her shoulders, obviously proud of her achievement. But his next question was the one that really sent her reeling. Kobato is not one to tell lies, but she is crafty in her ways of telling the truth. The almost truth, rather. "I learned from the geese silly!" It was not a lie. Small and cute little Kobato had watched them for half a day, figuring out how they managed to move forward without seeming to move at all. "They waddle like they've got something on their chests. But they're smart things! They paddle paddle paddle!" She twirled in a circle and came back around to face the knight.

His next words lit a light in Kobato's eyes. She laughed aloud, heartily. "Silly Aindreas, Serryberry is not my papa. I don't have a papa." The light was not of extreme bliss however. It was something more. A look the princess hardly ever showed at all. But it vanished like a candle blown out by a fierce wind. "Protect him since I'm too small to do so myself kay?" A curious question.

When the fae first came to Serris she was skinnier than skinny and uglier than a toad. Her fur had matted to her emaciated form and she was covered with soil. She didn't speak at first, but she smiled like there was no tomorrow. Soon she stuck to the Alphas side and followed him. He tossed her aside like a doll and she came galumphing back to him. A boomerang. Later, she spilled words and talked in the third person. Her mental state was barred from hatred and malice and judgmental gazes. She never did say where she came from. She never spoke of it. And Serris had never asked of it. Others, on the other hand, had been skeptical. An orphan who worked and wedged herself into royalty. Was it a sin or a blessing? No one knew. It was likely no one would ever know. No one... Except Ioryogi.

What do you wish to play, my dear princess? I, your ever faithful servant, your protective knight, shall do as you command. For some reason Kobato lowered herself to the ground and slowed her wagging tassel. The stopping of the motion was very much like the stopping of a heart. Unexpected and dangerous. Her answer reflected this very much so. Hide-and-go-seek. The words were quiet and hushed… easily mistakable as having just been a breath upon the breeze. Then she raised her head and let a feeling of innocence wash over her. Gently caressing the knight with its waves. Count to fifty kay? Don’t peek! We’ll have to start again if you do! She wagged her rump furiously and waited for the white soldier to close his portals and start counting. When he did, the angel was off like a rocket. She weaved in and out of Munashii’s trees. She squirmed under fallen logs and over thorny bushes. Her paws seeped into the mud from a rain two nights ago, and she took off in the direction of the border.

Kobato always knew that she could not stay for very long. And this was part of the deal. She had healed Serris’ heart. She had put the shards back together. It was time to continue collecting the finished product of her work. Vladya and many others were out there. A pang of guilt fluttered in her heart when she thought of Aindreas, still counting to half of one hundred. When the male was finished, he would follow her trail… but she would not be at the end of it. A senseless game. Her paws hit a small stream that led out the back way right by the den she had been sick in. Her wish would never come true if she stayed stagnant in this area. She would have to be quick, quick, quick. And so the dove soared. Her wings were a pearly white, unstained by the dread that filled the world. If angels exist, Kobato would be an example of such a being. Healing in an unnatural way, and then leaving without a trace. Would they search for her? She hoped not.

When she first met Serris, she told him that she was there to heal his heart. And her wish was going to be acknowledged when she’d healed more than just his. Surely he knew that this day would come. As she passed out of the territory and hit the major river that ran through blossom she drenched herself in the crystalline and took it towards a different pack. To be with the one she loved… that was little Kobato’s wish. And it would only be fulfilled in a special way. She wondered if he knew… Ioryogi.
