At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The pup appeared to be a playful one, for he was running after a butterfly. He had seen it first at Adoption Meadows. He had travelled there looking for a lupine to adopt him, but no adults had even looked his way. He had watched as first one pup and then another was picked up by an adult and carried off, supposedly to their new home. But not him. He was ignored, over-looked… It had been more depressing to be the only pup left than to simply be an orphan. And so Zorion had left. He was covering his depression by trying to be playful. But the little pup did not even have any friends to play with. So even playing, he was alone.

The pup had run away from his own pack, which was far away, for his mother had become ill and died. His father, who had been a nasty, heartless wolf, had taken out all of his anger on Zorion after his mother had died. Zorion, which meant happiness in one language, was a cruel twist on words it seemed, for the pup could not remember a single happy moment in his life. At least, not since his mother had died, and even before she died it was full of fear for his father. The pup had never felt like he had belonged. He had hoped that Blossom Forest would become his new home, but so far, nothing had changed. He did not belong anywhere. He did not have a family. He was all alone.

The butterfly had merely been his means for an exit. It had landed on a leaf by his paws when he had been waiting in Adoption Meadows, and he had decided to chase it wherever it went. This pathetic little bug was his only companion. He had chased it through the meadow and through various portions of the land and had ended up here, by the falls. The butterfly had finally alighted itself upon something, stopping its flight. The pup hunched himself down toward the ground, his plume wagged to and fro as the excitement filled his body. His brown orbs slitted as he focused upon the tiny flying bug. As he gathered up all of his strength in his hind end, Zorion exhaled silently. And then he exploded in a little ball of light grey fluff toward the butterfly. Which took off. And the pup realized that he had been so focused upon the butterfly, that he had not noticed that there was water just on the opposite side. Zorion scrambled mid-air to change his direction, but he failed, and landed directly in the water, and proceeded to be swept downstream, helpless against the strong stream. All that could be seen of him above the water was his grey head and the white streak that ran up the center of his face.

"Help me! Please! Someone help me!"
