At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

His heart beat faded into a rhythmic, healthier beat as he settled into the water. The water caressed his worn out pads, defeated from rough pursuits along the rockier landscape. His eyes were closed, chocolate eyes hidden from prying wolves. Terrel inhaled, taking long deep breaths that soothed his frazzled mind. The solider felt comforted by the serene area, his mind wondering into times of past and scenarios of the future but they were not filled or engulfed with miserable tales, some were even happy… None of the future had involved his mother, Channing – they used to – her prying other his future family with a happy expression. Now she was shielded by the arrogant brute Henadin, running around with her real pup’s family. He wasn’t her son; he was someone else’s son. Mostly, these thoughts were blocked out but occasionally they crept in when he was unprepared, haunting his mind and slaying his exhausted heart. Mae was always there, as a figure of support and trust and he was always buried in the depths of his pack. Terrel was going to be fine, alone or not. At that moment, his eyes opened – someone was coming? He turned, realising it was Mae.

She spoke one simple noun, his own name. Terrel’s mandible widened to relish in a wide grin, welcoming her in to his world. There was a light breeze, pirouetting around their bodies as he watched her advance closer. Terrel smiled once more as she settled beside him, resting close in reassurance. His own coffee orbs met her golden brown eyes; it calmed him to know that she remained a closer friend. “Hello Mae,” he said, soft words equivalent her own lyrics. His ears perked as she questioned him, though she was cautious about how she progressed about it. Terrel assumed she was curious, he didn’t mind though – there was nothing he could not and would not share with Mae.

“I am better now that I have left her in a more placid situation,” he admitted with a small smile.“Though I flipped out – not in an irritated way… I wouldn’t do that twice, not to her. But I felt strongly disorientated…” He shook his head recalling the memories of his emotion. It hurt a lot but he did not allow it to engulf him…Terrel smiled, he had survived much worse than this. His nose twitched, examining her scent. The scent of herbs clung to her fragrance, Terrel’s brow furrowed softly – she had obviously been into the meadows of herbs in Saw Tooth, or Blossom Field possibly? “Where have you been Mae? You smell pleasant…” He paused, feeling ever so slightly embarrassed – what an odd thing to say.

He sighed. “I am glad you have come, Mae,” he said. He placed his nose into the side of her muzzle for a few seconds before descending to the water for a quick drink.

'revolutionaries wait
for my head on a silver plate
just a puppet on a lonely string
oh who would ever want to be king?'

readers note;; terrel is an unsual character, disorientated from a broken background. he is gentle and kind, though wary towards brutes above the age of two years. when older he will be less confused and more sure of himself, he will gain confidence and go on to raise a treasured family...
