aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Chiron’s own fur stood on end, and Hellen’s amber gaze could see every muscle under his pelt tensing up to launch himself at her. A growl the brute his maw – a warning. But as Hellene dropped her ambushed response, Chiron relaxed as well. His gaze remained transfixed on her, and Hellene felt shamed by her instinctual response, but she remained still and silent, unmoving. She was so stubborn and hard on everyone around – Athene had always been the one to counter her roughness. Without her sister, Hellene found herself becoming crueler and ruder. But she was angry, oh so angry. She was angry at herself for leaving her sister, she was angry at her sister for leaving her alone… she was angry at everyone who couldn’t see just how much she was hurting.

After she so curtly addressed herself to the brute, he had merely nodded his cranium. He had then eyed her severely before opening his maw to speak once more. Hellene, it is not my place to accept you but I hope you will have the patience to wait for our Alpha, Kalgalath. The faeling snorted upon his inflection of the word patience. It was one virtue she simply did not have. His tone was as hard as her own, but he was just doing his duty, keeping the pack safe. What was her excuse?

Her amber gaze watched as he raised his maw to the sky and called, his howl a request for Kalgalath’s presence, apparently. After just a few moments, the brushes rustled behind the brute, and a large grey, black, and white titan strode through them, his stride stiff and commanding. The first brute bowed his figure to the one who now approached, the one who must be the Alpha, who merely dipped his head in greeting.

But then he had turned his arctic gaze upon her and she frozen where she stood, all of her muscles tightened. He was so commanding and strong, Hellene found herself immensely intimidated. It had been such a long while since she had been in an Alpha’s presence – she had forgotten it was like. What they were like. Though she had been accepted as a member of Spring Grounds, she had never actually met the Alphess. And so when the Alpha – Kalgalath was what the first brute had said was his name – spoke, Hellene found herself quite frightened. Fae, tell me your name and what your business is with Aurora Borealis. Your scent is already intertwined with another pack – why are you here? Be honest, or know that you may not leave here intact. His words were short and concise, and had quite an effect on her – Hellene, though still planted where she had originally stood, was now shaking furiously.

Still, her destination of travel had been this terra with one goal in mind – to join the pack. Though frightened out of her wits, she would not deviate from that path. “My name is Hellene, Lord. The pack you are smelling is that of Spring Grounds. The whole truth is that I joined there with my sister – it was my sister’s idea. She would rather live within a pack than as a lone duo, just her and I. But she went off on her own adventures, and I found myself utterly alone. Just one wolf bothered to speak with me. And so, I left. I cannot be alone for life. I am not a loner. I need a place to belong. My purpose here is to see if it is here that I belong. I seek to join your pack. Accept me, and I will be loyal to you and yours. To be honest, I made that same promise to Spring Grounds, so you have no reason to believe my promise. But they gave me no loyalty. They cared naught for me. I wish them no ill-will, especially since my sister still calls that place home. But it is not my home. I have no home.” The fae’s cranium and her amber gaze dropped downward, her shaking now mostly due to silent sobs rather than fear of the large brute. She let no tears fall and straightened upward as swiftly as she could to save grace, to not look weak in these strangers eyes.
