aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Pure joy surged through my veins. Things had changed so drastically just since the beginning of Kal's reign. I knew he was the sole reason for my turn around and I realized there was no use denying it. I had gone from broken sadness-- nearly suicidal-- to happy and chipper like I was.... Like I had been when Cody still cared about me and Zag had still been alive. The former brought only a soft sadness, while the latter earned me a nearly debilitating shock of pain. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my twin brother dearly, not a day when my heart doesn't break all over again. The only difference was that now I had something-- someone, rather-- to look forward to. And I was off to go see him now.

My paws had carried me swiftly from the home of Moth, eager to lay eyes on my king again and tell him of the good news. Things had gone swimmingly with the kind regal. Her terms seemed very fair to me and I was sure Kalgalath would see them as such as well. I had slowed only briefly to confront Magic and now I was roaming the pack, looking for the boy. I had stopped to scent the air when I hear his strong howl calling all of us together. I quickly veered towards his call and set off at a dead sprint. My taste of freedom had left me as energetic and joyous as I had been when I was a pup. It was such an amazing feeling, really, and I now realized how much I had missed it.

Approaching the spot Kal had called from, I slowed. I took one deep breath before stepping into view, my ambers searching around at all the others already gathered. I spotted Magic first and just let my gaze roll off her. Next I saw Chiron and gave him a small smile. It seemed that he had found a girl and I was happy for the lad. She, along with the other female and the pup, I did not know. But then again, that was the point of this meeting, right? To let us all get to know one another, to become a family. Finally my gaze rested on Kal. A small sound, almost a purr, escaped between my daggers. I took a moment to look him over, making sure he was well, before slowly approaching him. I dipped my head to him, a large grin sliding of it's own accord onto my canvas. Kal. You're looking well. How have you been? My lyrics were soft and I noticed the unmistakable tones of adoration that snuck into them. A slight blush crept up to my cheeks and I prayed that it was covered by my fur. I gently stood my front paws on the boulder next to my king, touching his shoulder. The gesture was followed by my moving to stand beside him on the grassy terra.
