Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

THE HERE AND NOWALPHA OF GLORALL

Alana had been asleep in her a shallow hole, not quite a den – she didn’t need one this season – but a shelter from the sea breeze. She has found that the wind makes it significantly colder than it is inland, but at the same time, if she moved inland she wouldn’t be as close to the ocean. Since her time here, she has found the scent of salt to be quite comforting.

When she hears the call of another, she perks her head up. That wasn’t Makism’s call. Interesting. Perhaps there was another new alpha. She would have to ask d’Mani if they usually changed this often. This time, however, she was glad for the quick change. Makism had seemed as though he were making it up as he went along. As though his mate had given him a present and it was all a big game to him. Not exactly inspiring leadership.

In truth, Alana had no fealty toward any alpha, having never been around the same one for long enough. She had instead grown a fondness for the land. She had only been here since the fall, but she felt relaxed on the beach and in the forest bordering it. She stood up, stretching slightly. If she intended to stay, she had better make herself known.

As she walks into the clearing, she sees the powerful male and her posture immediately shifts, tail hanging limply and head not held high at all. This is no apparent pushover. Good, but still frightening. she make eye contact for a split second before looking away, coming to stand next to d’Mani, since Alana is most familiar with her. Most of the others she recognizes from the meeting Makism had called, except a female with a pup and a male. Perhaps they are new and seeking to join the pack.

Alana's attention shifts back to the large male as he moves toward her and she allows him to clamp his muzzle over her own. This was a thing her mother had done when she was small and had misbehaved. She understood the symbolism, but wasn’t a fan of it. She relaxed slightly when he moved back to his initial spot. He speaks of stability. It really would be nice to have the same wolf in charge for more than a single season. When there is a pause in introductions, she speak up, her voice soft. “I am Alana. I have never had the opportunity to learn any of the positions here because of…leadership changes,” She smiles faintly. “I am a quick learner, though, and would love to earn rank in whatever field you deem necessary, although I cannot say I am much of a fighter.”

All of this was true. She wanted to earn her place here, to be useful. She didn’t want to idly sit by and bask in safety without deserving it. She was probably stating the obvious about not being a good fighter though. She was small and thin, not exactly the most useful in a battle. Good for running away, somewhat useful for hunting, but not at all useful for one-on-one fighting.

She found it interesting to observe the two here besides Silvertongue that she did not know. The female had approached d’Mani, and Alana, standing next to her, had been able to overhear. So this was the alpha’s mate. Good to know. She smiles at their son. Alana has always found pups to be cute. Maybe one year she will have one of her own to look after.

Alana's eyes widen slightly as the other male speaks. She can’t imagine ever speaking so casually to someone with as much authority as a pack alpha. A slight smile plays around her lips, though. Having never had such self-assuredness as to be able to do something like that, she can definitely admire it when someone else does. He had a strange way of talking as well, one that she had never heard before. Interesting. She shift my attention back to the alpha, waiting for him to speak again.
