At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Water flooded between his fur and paws and he gently set himself into the water to wash away the blood. Athene was doing that same farther down the stream since the water was shallower there. He asked if she knew anything about healing, and she replied with a soft nod. The brute closed his orbs, the water soothing him and he found himself growing tired. The sun’s warmth wrapped around his body and he felt comforted in the sunlight. His gaze opened when he heard the fae getting out of the water. She stood in front of him and pushes three tiny black seeds in front of his face. Doing what she asked of him, he bowed his head and stretched out his tongue, lapping up the seeds; he tried to chew them, and he felt the tinge on the back of his throat and roof of his mouth as the seeds descended into his gullet. His eyes watered as he tried to nod off the feeling. He rose out of the water, his ankle and foot becoming stiff. He reached forward to the shade and layed himself away from the water, enjoying the thoughts that sauntered in and out of his mind. The titan muttered a thank you before he watched her limo back into the forest.

The sun warmed him pelt as he waited for the vixen to return. He didn’t understand the feeling in his mind and the vibrations radiating off his pelt. The fae had sent his mind into a twist when she thanked him back in the cavern, and the brute was finding it hard to unravel. His mind kept thinking of different ways to explain it, but they all kept getting even more confusing and hard to interpret so he found himself giving up. However, the fae made him feel different every time he looked at her. He turned his icy gaze over to his leg, the wound now red on the sides and looking pale yellow towards the middle of the wound; it would be hard to keep it from getting infected and dirty as it throbbed on its own anyway. The brute raised his cranium again when he heard Athene coming back from the forest. Her foot was now covered in chewed moss, and the brute found himself wondering what it did to the wound to help it. She fell next to Zev, her soft head resting on his shoulder. It surprised him for only a fourth of a second before he felt himself relaxed to her touch. It made him feel comfortable in this nice place, and he didn’t want it to end. “What a pair we make, limping with each step we take. Injured as we are we need a rest, though for now we are without den or nest. But contented I am to merely lay, next to you being warmed by the sun’s ray.”

“I do not mind at all to sit next to you in the sun; we need to rest. By the way, those seeds are doing the trick to making my foot numb.” She started to slid off of him, and Zev’s mind started to plead. He didn’t want him to leave her now. He felt wonderful with her in front of him. However, he knew they needed to take smaller steps to recovery so the brute found himself not doing anything to have her come back to him; he regretted it. He watched as the fish started to jump out of the stream, their golden backs gleaming in the air as the sun washed over their scales. “Hellene.” Zev flickered an aud hearing Athene speak. “What?” He didn’t understand, and he waited for her to explain.
