Respect was bullshit. The creature couldn’t really his finger on what it was, but he didn’t know.,.. he didn’t know what he was doing. He didn’t know how to feel. Swallowbane could feel all the darkness welling up inside his chest. It was there to drive him mad, to eat him from the inside out. The creature wasn’t going to really… worry about much, seeing as it didn’t matter. Nothing really did matter anymore. Bane was… he hurt. He hurt a lot. That didn’t matter either, clearly. It wasn’t like it was going to matter in the long run, either. He’d live. He’d move on. He was supposed to, and he would… not.
And then there was another creature. He appeared. Swallowbane’s tail didn’t twitch, but he didn’t balk either. The young man knew full well who this creature was, and he wouldn’t shy. Tesseract was a young man that Swallowbane wasn’t really going to… wasn’t really going to… well, he wouldn’t really care. This man was an enemy, but he was… he was an enemy of his father, not an enemy of Bane’s. The creature wouldn’t do it. He wouldn’t turn away from a creature that wasn’t his own personal enemy.
“Discord and teen angst? Must be my fault.” The creature sighed softly, tail wagging once before stilling in the dust. Swallowbane didn’t turn, his eyes still fixed on the world before him. It was in his periphery that he watched the pale creature, but it didn’t matter. None of it really mattered. It was fine.
