Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

There was something small and brown running through the dead grass and fallen multi-colored leaves. Its long ears were pulled back and its little cotton tail was shaking. His large brown eyes were wide and his nervous whiskers were twitching. He could hear nothing behind him, but he knew full well that there was something chasing him as his instincts yelled at him, telling him that he was getting slower and that the hideous creature was gaining on him. He noticed that he was coming across and creek and lucky for him there was a fallen log, the perfect way to cross the creek. Maybe the creature behind him won’t cross the river…maybe the creek will scare the creature away. As he got closer he couldn’t help but let out a distress call. As he got closer he noticed he had to give himself a huge leap in order to reach the log. So, he did. He felt like he was flying, his ears didn’t hear the paws or the crashing sound of water, all he could hear was the wind. As he flew, his adrenaline was clearly up because he didn’t feel sharp teeth clamping down on his side. He did notice however, that the log wasn’t below him anymore. Rather he felt his body move upwards, his vision turned upside down, and below was not the log or the creek, rather that hideous face with sharp teeth. The last thing he heard was the sound of his very bones breaking, the last thing he saw was the moon, and the last thing he thought of, was his life, the last thing he felt was his heart stop beating. The rabbit was dead.

The Monster chuckled darkly as she tossed her head and threw the dead carcass up and down. All over her muzzle there was fresh wet crimson; pieces of blood began to fall along her neck. Her carcass was moving in such a delightful twisted way. It was evident that she was a happy dark creature. She could feel her heart race as she started to cool down. The dead rabbit still hung inside her jaw. Walking away from the creek, the tawny carcass hanging tightly from her sharp teeth, she happily trotted off to find a secluded area to enjoy her tasty little treat. Sleek obsidian fatal minx moved silently towards a lonesome willow tree that was standing beside the thinnest part of the creek. Her shredded right ear twitched, as dark blue eyes narrowed slightly. Growling softly she poked through the thick haunting reeds and scanned the area not a sign or trace of anyone claiming a place as their own. With a hard sigh she threw her body to the ground and laid the dead rabbit between her paws, sharp teeth easily tearing through the flesh as she gorged herself on her tasty treat, quite content with herself. Though what she assumed would be another peaceful night would be interrupted at the sound of another coming closer. Ebony hide peppered with light grey tips began to rise as a threatening low snarl shook her body. Dial was raised high, as dark blue-purple eyes locked in on the fool that dared to interrupt her meal.
