At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

ON A COLD, WINDY NIGHT{mae<3}

An arctic breeze combed through his many toned pelts as he stood idly. His walk had seemed brisk and refreshing as feather-like snowflakes waltzed tenderly around his body and melded into the growing coatings of snow. But the playful and frisky wind that had brought vast amounts of snow had since ceased and now only carried a few trailing snowflakes that barely amounted to the land. The sun rested politely in the cloudy sky, heat subdued by the layers of clouds that made it impossible to break through the coldness. It provided a small glow across the snow that made it glimmer like small fallen stars. The once fresh and clean snow was now distorted by animal’s descent upon the land. But despite the image of havoc it suggested, Terrel gazed upon Leisure Lake with an excitable fondness.

It had started snowing in the early morning. A piercing wind had crept upon him as he slept and had woken him with a chill that pressed aches upon his bones. He had glanced out briefly but had returned quickly to the warmth of the furthest corner. Terrel did not have a den, for he lacked experience in making one but he had managed to find a large crevice in the lower area of Rainbow Cliff. The rocky exterior provided a good shelter against the harsh wind but gaps still remained unblocked. In the winter nights, he had longed for Mae’s body next to his.

The titan discovered with a growing anticipation that the lake had frozen over. Behind the dusting of snow, he could see the gentle shimmer that rested charmingly upon it. In the moment of the unearthing his thoughts had immediately passed to Mae. He knew that they together would be able to make the most out of the fallen snow. And though Terrel treasured any time he spent with Mae, he found himself reluctant to call for her. It had been out of pure luck that the other days she had not been occupied with other plans. He hated ‘demanding’ her presence. He almost felt as though he was always being forceful. Without company he almost felt stupid considering to play, he was an adult after all.

How long ago had it been since he had spent time with Mae? He was uncertain. The days slipped by without meaning. His day mainly consisted of thinking. Terrel’s mind wondered to various things: Channing, Mae, Saw Tooth, Abendrot, Macaria… Though of course there were many more things that wondered into his endless train of thought. But mainly his mind rested on one wolf in particular – Mae. He loved her. And his feelings appalled him. He did not want to be some disgusting creature that lusted over a female. She needed someone far better than himself. He was broken. But despite knowing the truth, Terrel could not help imagining the future. The boy wanted so much and he knew that some or most he would never accomplish or find. The future scared him.
