Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

For if the dark returns then my brothers will die

From the way the figure lept up Fili almost wondered whether it was his brother or if he had made some horrible mistake. At the yelp he flattened his own auds, ready to apologize and bolt out of the cave. He caught sight of the features of the other brute and relaxed. He hadn't made a mistake. Kili too calmed down, lunging towards him and embracing the older boy. Thrown off balance, Fili staggered back, surprised at his brother's reaction. A smile tugged at his maw though and he returned the embrace, feeling warmer with every second he spent with his twin. Perhaps it hadn't all been from the rain; Maybe some of the cold had come from being apart from Kili. A piece of him had been missing and at long last it had found its way back. Fili vowed never to lose it again, no matter the cost.

As the elder of the pair, he had always felt the need to protect his baby brother at all costs. Kili had sometimes seen it as over protective, but the red-blonde brujo had only been doing what he thought best. Hopefully the ebony Titan understood. Fili assumed it was an older sibling thing: Acting as a parent to the younger. Kili would thank him some day, maybe return the favor. But until that day Fili would do anything he could to guard his little brother. That included dying. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if the boy he had grown up with was lost forever. If these days apart had been killing him, a lifetime would be the end of him. It would be hard on Kili, of course, if he died, but he was a fighter. He would get through it. But to lose a younger sibling..... You blamed yourself for everything. You know you could've done better, been quicker, more attentive to their condition. Fili did so now, eyes scanning over the raven boy as he lay down on the floor of the cave, searching for any injuries and inspecting his overall physical appearance.

He waved his tail dismissively at Kili's questions. He was in full big brother mode and nothing was going to distract him. "You look thin. Have you been eating enough? It's dangerous for you not to, you know." he was being rather hypocritical with this, not thinking of his own condition now that his brother was here. "What about rest? You leave yourself very vulnerable when you're tired. I don't want you getting hurt, you hear me?" the brute laced around his brother, inspecting his well being and fretting over little scrapes and cuts, picking thorns and brambles and assortments of flora out of his fur. When at last Fili was satisfied that Kili was as well tended to as he could manage at the time, he folded his pillars beneath him, joining the crow colored brute. Again he draped his head over the younger boy, feeling him lean into him. Fili curled up more, hoping to give his brother some of his heat as well. He kept his eyes and ears alert, watching for any signs of danger. As tired as he was, if Kili was tired he would not rest until the younger boy was completely awake and even then would keep himself ready to protect him at any second. "It took a while. You didn't make it easy, I'll tell you that much. Truth is, I'd almost given up. This mountain was the last place I had to look." He didn't go into the detail of searching the land for his brother. "Not nearly as glad as I am for you." He looked down at the dark brute, smiling affectionately. His smile slowly melted into a slight frown. He cleared his throat, as he often did when he was under pressure or uncomfortable speaking about things. In this case, he did it out of shame. "No. I don't. I ran away when they were all alseep. I doubt they even know where I am. I certainly don't know where they are." Thorin would be beyond angry with them if they ever found him again, him in particular. Fili flattened his auds just thinking about it. His green gaze traveled back to the brute beside him. "Rest, Kili. You need to."
