Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
remind me of who i'm supposed to be

My first time coming to the new pack lands of Taviora is...strange, to say the least. The trees stretch out before us, a woodland for sure but it has a feral beauty to it. I used to haunt places like this since the shadows of the large trees offer plenty of cover for my profession, or at least, the profession I used to have. One ear flicks toward my white companion as he ponders on the problems of this land. I'm sure it'll be something aesthetic and not of importance but even so, I humor him with half my attention, sure that Heyel won't be offended. He knows I've been through a lot and he's one of the few constants in my life now. He knows a part of me cherishes him for that, even if we never have to voice it. I have lost my mate, my imprint, almost half of my children, then I got back my imprint and yet he's been here through it all. Fate threw our children together in a love I wish I could still have and made us grandparents, even putting us in a pack together. This hasn't happened since Heyel was in Paracon under my rule but of course, we were always meant to be equals.

At my continued silence as I take in the edge of the pack lands and the unfamiliar scent staining the borders, I hear Heyel answer himself, talking about the trees and how they obstruct proper viewing of the borders. He even brings the others into the conversation, though we've mostly travelled in silence up till now. Should have known Heyel would be the one to break it. I know the alpha's name is Coza and he's been steadily gathering followers since taking over this place. He's done well for himself. There's a scent in the air though...something I can't quite put a paw on. It's almost familiar and yet not at the same time. It smells like soot and...forest fire. There was only wolf in my life who ever smelled like a burning forest fire, that tang of danger and deadliness that drew me like a moth to a flame. Of course she's gone now. Perhaps Zeteri is more like her mother than I ever gave her credit for. I hear she joined this pack and has been moving up the ranks since. I couldn't be more proud. Maybe its her I smell.

I watch as Heyel nudges his daughter over the borders before following after. I sigh, taking in the scent once more, taunting myself with the yearning it starts deep in my core as I hesitate only a moment before stepping over the borders myself. Heyel says something about bushes and the corner of my lips twitches in the shadow of a smirk, my one ear constantly trained on him to at least give him the respect of knowing I am listening somewhat. As Heyel picks up the pace, I lengthen my strides as well, loping beside him through the forested pack lands. My ear flicks to hear Heyel lecturing his daughter about being more silent, telling her to watch how Malina and I move. My silence is second nature after many years of blending into the shadows and keeping my steps as silent as the shadows themselves. I don't even have to think about doing it anymore.

Heyel slows at a certain point, dropping lower before giving orders to Malina and Neveah to find traces of Tobias' scent. I remember when he asked me to join him in Taviora to track down the black beast. Of course I gave in. That night he came to my den after my children...I wish I could have killed him then. If Cordova hadn't intervened I might have. I know Kiska would have joined me in a second. That scent is distracting, making my mind a little more fuzzy than usual. It comes to mind the minute I think of her name. I wonder if Zeteri will come to help out. I'd like to see her again. The last time we spoke wasn't all that great since I wasn't quite myself. I'd like to make it up to her.

I turn to Heyel as he concentrates on the ground, swiping his paw at one point to let me inspect. I take a whiff and turn my gaze to him.

"Smells like old blood."

I agree as he then says he believes this is where it happened, the attack. I hear a wolf lost his leg to Tobias. I don't envy him that. I glance around the clearing, wishing the snow hadn't covered up all the evidence we could have used to track Tobias better. I pick an angle from the clearing and swipe my paw lightly across the snow, looking for track marks in the soil beneath the white cover. Finding nothing, I keep trying, glancing up when none other than my son comes into view. I can sense the anguish in his form and I scowl in return, knowing firsthand that keeping so much anger bottled up inside can do as much damage to the host as the one its directed toward. I listen attentively as he speaks of a place called the Grotto that Tobias might have run to after the attack. When he asks about Aaliyah, I tense, glancing toward Heyel since I'm sure this won't be such a smooth subject for him.

His last comment has my ears flicking back in concern. Hopefully I won't have to keep my own son in check. We managed to patch things up somewhat in Diveen but I don't want him running into this head first with no regard for his own safety. If he keeps holding onto this anger, it will ruin him. There doesn't need to be more casualties to what it can do. I look back at Heyel, waiting for his lead. We may have come into this together but I respect his decisions and he knows more about what happened than I do. I continue looking for marks under the snow, listening in case Heyel gets an idea of what to do next.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
