The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

(Lets play the "find the frozen reference" game xD)

I was so utterly foolish. All the precautions I had taken to avoid being followed were wasted. I wasn't cautious enough, and in the end I had been discovered because of it. I should have sensed him; no wolf was invisible, not even me. I was too worried about not being discovered that I missed the one thing i'd been trying to hide from in the first place. If my father was still alive, he'd be disappointed in the skills he taught me gone to waste. I was mad yes, but I simply bottled that emotion up with all the others. I was almost filled to the brink, about to burst, but I had to conceal it; I couldn't afford to feel it and let my emotions rage. Inside I held a storm in a bottle

No sooner did he enter the cave did I sense his presence, my eyes shooting open. I didn't move, hoping he had not seen me as I watched his black frame morph with the shadows. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest when he looked up directly to where I was laying, a cheeky, mischievous grin splayed out across his maw. I shut my eyes tight, wondering what the hell I was going to do about this. There was no way I could get up and slip away to one of my hiding places, he seemed like the wolf to follow me; considering he'd already done just that.

Suddenly a piercing howl shattered the peaceful silence, magnified by the closeness of the cavern walls. My ears pulled back against my skull and I jumped at the sudden noise. Unfortunately for me, my ledge was not even, and the sudden jerking motion caused my hind legs to shift and my balance to sway. I found myself clinging to the ledge, my from claws grabbing anything while my scrambled for foot holes. I cursed myself as I pulled myself back up to the safety of a solid surface. When I was back on my feet, I quickly shook off my nerves and flashed a silvery, annoyed glance down to the male wolf below, but it was gone so quickly you couldn't even tell if you had actually seen it or not. "Good morning lovely!" he chirped with that amused voice.

I stared down at him, my features not holding any particular emotion and my eyes neutral as I took in his appearance and tried to decipher what his games were. He looked to be smaller in stature than me, but held the advantage of weight. I could hold my own against him in a fight if his means of following me were to attack. But I only fought when necessary, finding it pointless and savage; that of course did not mean I didn't know how to fight. He had an almost pure obsidian coat, key word almost, because there was splashes of gray around his muzzle and tail. His eyes were a silver, much like my own, but they held mischief in them. He was older than me too, meaning he could be one of my brother's rogues. But this male didn't hold the same savage, unhealthy look about him. Putting me slightly at ease. From what I could see about him, he didn't look like someone I could trust. He had the eyes of a wolf who would lie, trick, and screw with just for fun.

I knew for a fact he was going to get impatient if I didn't say anything, but I was far to shy to say anything. At the same time I also didn't want to risk boring him and having him turn his attention to getting up to where I was; I may have been discovered but atleast I was still safe. There was an internal conflict raging inside of me, and in the end my voice one out. "What reason do you have for following me?" I asked, my voice calm. As hard as I had tried it still came out softer and more withheld than I would have liked. I was still far too shy. I had two reasons for asking this question: One, because I was curious to know why a wolf would waste his day on a loner like me. And two, because I needed to make sure he wasn't working for my brother. You could only tell the first reason in my voice, since I had all but hidden any part relating to my past. I had dirty secrets, a blood stained past, but my poker face made it impossible to tell.

But I don't want good and I don't want good enough, I want can't sleep, can't breathe without you love....
