By what the young one showed on the way he did it, his only problem was concentration. He seemed so excited. There were just so many distractions and it could be hard for a pup to concentrate, so many colors in spring as well. The fields were made of colorful flowers which could easily attract a pup�s attention so easily. My ways had never been of a true hunter. With my skills it was possible to survive in alone, it wasn�t that bad after all.

- You will bounce if needed and when the prey is close enough. There are at least three steps to make your move if you�re far and that will be most of the cases.

Words were gentle and patient. Pups had always been loved by myself, they are just fun to watch, to teach and even talk to.

- If you are seen you will probably lose your prey, but trying to run after it is one choice. But it depends, there are certain prey that can be too fast, so running after it would not be a good choice so you will have to find another.

I explained and looked at him as he concentrated once more, trying his best to look forward and keep himself still, for a moment there was a smile growing in my lips. He was making progress and it was noticeable. Then with a blow from the wind and a crack from a branch his concentration is broken quickly. He yells and just bolts after a squirrel, chasing it. I wait, chuckling softly to myself. He takes his time to see that the squirrel is not coming back and then turns to look at me. My form still standing and waiting for him. His head lowers and his ears droop.

- Now, we need to concentrate. To focus on the training. We can try and catch something now.. How about us starting with a hare? We will hunt a hare.

I told him and waited for his reaction, expecting some excitement from the pup.

- But before we go� Come here.- I called him and waited for him to come -Lay on your back, belly up.

I told him, gentle and friendly with a wave of my tail. I hoped he would follow and just lay, it was something very especial that I had learnt from mother and I wanted to give it to him�.

- This is to help you relax. Remember. To hunt you have to be relaxed, concentrated and patient�

I told him. Should he follow my words and be with his belly up and exposed for me, I would lower my muzzle between his front legs and nuzzle gently in circular motions, letting my muzzle lower to reach his belly and nuzzle there. Mother used to do this to me when she knew I was too anxious, excited or even in pain. It just brought peace to me, it was so soothing, so relaxing, it just felt amazing. I hope he feels the same way. Of course my mother would be much better at this, she knew exactly how to do it, but I tried to do as she used to. Zen knows how, not like mother�s tender and caring muzzle, but she still does.
