A mixed hued coat- darkened by multi-toned browns- lay thick and tight against the male’s disproportionate frame. Muscles, contracting and relaxing as he stretched his limbs in a steady motion, rippled underneath his robes. Slowly but surely his physique was beginning to grow and though still exiting the late stages of pup-hood, Felan was growing into a finely tuned, healthy and athletic creature. Physically he was his father’s twin- gaining his height and skeletal stature already- but in looks and personality he was a clone of his mother. Their coats were almost indifferent, though Felan was darker than his nursemaid, and both held within them a fiery personality that could get them in and out of trouble with ease. He was merciless, even now at such a young age, and if moulded correctly he would turn out to be a dangerously useful weapon- especially in the wrong paws.
He wandered further ahead of his family- despite the lack of directions or knowledge of where exactly he was going. The mass of trees and shadows that fell from them seemed to line the horizon and the earth beyond his view and so even though he knew they were heading for a pack, he could not see any sign of the borders. Not that borders meant anything to him anyway. The blistering arms of the sun tore through the weak limbs of the trees casting fading light out in random spotlights along the path. As he walked, stones gripped uncomfortably between the teen’s pads as he led his small family through the forest. It was clear from the winding path they followed, that this journey had been taken by many before them and so- despite the odd grimace that contorted his face as pebbles scratched against his pads- Felan was optimistic that they were indeed heading the right way.
Felan and his mother had returned to the make-shift den with a swift eagerness to wake his father and sister and tell them the news that they had finally found a place they could call home; a pack, with soldiers a plenty and a strong leader worthy of unquestionable loyalty; the perfect environment to continue growing and learn vital lessons in order to survive. To the young lad- who was beginning to crave war and the dirty sensual pleasure that came hand in hand with it- it seemed like a dream come true. However, in the back of his maniacal mind, he worried for the safety of his sister. How would she cope in a world like that? Vigorously the youngster shook his head, disturbing the wretched thoughts before stopping and turning his cranium in order for his gaze to fall on his younger sibling- frightened and timid as always. For her eyes only, a smile tugged uncomfortably on his lips, assuring her that she would be fine and as always, he would protect her. He would wave his neck in a manner that suggested she walk ahead of her family and by his side, but whether she would was a different matter. Still the lad continued on his journey, emeralds speckled with brown searching through the tree-line for the hidden treasure he craved.
Of course it would have been much easier for the boy to have followed the one wolf who knew where she was going: Hestia. It had after all been the snake woman that had told them about this sanctuary in the first place. It would seem that this place; this Ab..en..drot... was her home also and though the lad was slightly disheartened at the thought of having to live with her, it was a price he was willing to pay. But following her would have been too easy. Still, his ears stood to attention on his cranium, flickering to the source of any sound or alert to say he may be going the wrong way. So far... nothing. Only when the trees appeared to open up a little and sunlight poured through the gaping holes did Felan get the first sign that they were upon the borders. A call from behind him along the words of STOP! And, whilst having to bite down the urge to simply walk straight forward and into what he hoped would be the pack lands, Felan scraped his paws along the ground in a show of boredom before plonking his rump upon the ground and waiting for the rest of the party to join him.
And then... there... just for a brief moment.... the smallest flicker of hope and happiness sparked in his eyes before it vanished and Felan returned to his normal bitter self.
