A Flicker of Shadow(Open)

Whispering Shadows padded through the sunlit forest, his black pelt a large blotch of darkness. His fur was neatly groomed, and his brown eyes were fixed on the path he was walking along. He was strongly built, muscles bulging beneath his pelt, with a large aura of strength, bravery, and protection coming off him in waves. In his large jaws, he was carrying the thick leg of a bull elk. He had caught it while hunting at the Prey Plateau, and was now heading for Leisure Lake. Whispering Shadow decided it would be easier to just follow the river to the lake, and if he got lucky, he might find a female along the way who would gladly wish to come with him.
As the trees began to thin out, and the grass became harsher and less soft, he heard the thundering of the river ahead of him growing louder. He stopped at the edge of the tree line. The grass thinned to hard packed soil until it formed a rocky shore. The entire shore was covered in the shadow of the tall pines. The water was flowing smoothly and calmly here, but the roaring of the river sounded just around the corner.
Whispering Shadows dropped his catch and glanced around, sniffing the air. The only thing that hit his nose, was the smell of wet rocks and the forest. He swiftly trotted across the rocky shore, his callused paws allowing him to walk across the mixture of smooth and sharp rocks with little pain. He glanced back at his untouched meal, before turning and looking around the corner. As he suspected, the river grew more violent here, and the current raced pass him.
He shuddered at the memory of losing his brother to a flood before he had come to Blossom Forest. He blinked the grief from his eyes and then turned and raced across the rocks, his sharp claws clicking against them, and rocks splashed into the water and onto other rocks as he kicked them up. Reaching where he placed his catch, he slowed to a halt, glad his food was untouched. He glanced around, and then up at the sky. The sun was slowly sinking into the trees on the other side of the river.
He didn't feel hungry so he padded over to the edge of the trees. Digging into the hard dirt, he buried his meal to preserve it, and then swept some rocks around it. He then padded into the forest gathering some mother and leaves. He pushed the leaves over where he buried his catch, and then covered it in moss before curling up on top of it. He lifted his head, pricking his black ears and looked around. He sighed softly to himself.
There was a deep longing inside of him to find a mate or a companion. He had been so alone ever since his mother was killed, and he missed his deceased siblings. He rested his head on his paws, staring at the river as it washed past him. Giving one last sigh, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
He jerked awake to see the moon lighting the shore, and pricked his ears. He heard a rustling and looked around, a low growl rumbling in his throat. The smell of the wet rocks and the forest blocked the smell of the creature rustling in the bushes.
