At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

If I Look Back I am Lost

_________________________________________________________________________

Life had been very uneventful as of late, and the gray femme had never been so bored in her life. She often dwelled on how she had come to where she was now. It seemed so long ago that she had been the young teen that had already had a family, three pups and a mate. And now she was a full grown adult with no one. Yes, she did have friends, like Kahlan for instant, her best friend from the pack she called home now. But it was different. She missed the mate she had lost every day and often wondered what her life would have been like if she had not lost him. He was the alpha of the pack she had been a part of at the time, and her pups were destined to take over as leaders, but they would never have any of that. Her and her mate had led the pack together, even though she had been so young at the time, the pack had grown to trust and respect her. Daenerys had lost her entire family, her pups and the love of her life. Half of her pack had been killed and she had been helpless to it all, could do nothing to save the kin she had so recently given birth to or to save her pack.

Whenever Daenerys was left alone and without company for extended amounts of time her thoughts always drifted to these thoughts. Of what she could have done differently and how she could have saved the pack she had been in charge of protecting. And this is where she found herself now. Wandering the pack alone, forcing her paws to move and not just stay holed up in her den like she wanted to. She knew she had to keep herself active or she truly would go mad. A sigh escaped her maw as she trudged along through the cold air. Winter was almost here and the air was always chilly now. Dany hated the cold, she was much more accustomed to the heat and her pelt never grew as thick as most of the other wolves here. She was just thankful that her fur had grown more than the thin pelt that covered her in the summer. Her body was adjusting to living in the Blossom where the seasons changed more and the temperature grew colder than she had ever experienced, but she would always prefer the warm weather that came with the spring and summer months. The cold weather depressed the ess even more, longing for the warm weather that had always been around in her first home. She really hated thinking about her original pack and the wolves there. She knew Saw Tooth was her home, it felt like home and she did not question her loyalty to the pack and the wolves in it. But it didn’t make it any easier when the thoughts of her old family and old life crept in.

The gray femme’s thoughts were interrupted when she heard a howl ring through the trees. The sound made her pause, audettes perking at the noise. It was not the call of a happy wolf, there was fear and pain and hurt in that call. Daenerys recognized the vocals, but she could not place who it was at first. Whoever it was they needed help and her instinct was to rush to their aide. The call was not for her, but she wanted to check on whoever it was that was hurting that badly, to be there for them and help them in any way that she could. And so she turned her bodice in the direction of the call and urged her stilts forward and a much faster pace than the slow crawl she had been traveling at. Her muscles protested as she kept up a quick pace, just under a sprint, and she was soon panting and out of breath. As she neared the lupine his scent reached her nares and she recognized it at once, Rodan. The younger brute had seemed very unlike himself when she saw him at the recent pack meeting and she wondered if something happened to the other male that was so often with him, Kahn. She was not sure where he had been at the meeting and it was not her place to ask so she had not, instead looking at the brujo with concern, hoping he would be okay.

Daenerys came to Staircase Falls not long after she heard the desperate call of Rodan, panting as she approached him, slowing her stride. He looked distraught when she found him and her motherly instincts kicked in, approach him swiftly. ”Rodan, are you alright?” She did not know how he liked being touched, so she was hesitant to embrace him, but she made it clear what her intentions were, reaching out to comfort him but giving him the option to back away if that was not what he wanted or if it would make him more uncomfortable. ”It’s alright Rodan, talk to me.” She spoke softly to him, trying to figure out what was bothering him as she brought her head and neck around him, embracing him gently.

OOC: Thought I would throw in some sad Dany for Ro, maybe they can make each other happy! Also, Rodan’s an adult now, correct? Just wanna check because if my memory is correct (which it is also very likely it is not haha) he was a teen during the hunt that happened a little ways back right?
