Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

I look up when another wolf approaches, another wolf from Taviora but not one I've met before. I offer him a friendly smile and a wave of my tail in greeting, noting his silence right off the back. He seems to just want to wait as if seeing if more will come. His silence reminds me of Wren and the thought makes me sad. My ears flick back but I glance back at Astrid to make sure she knows another wolf is here for the hunt. Another male wolf approaches right after, not a pack wolf but a loner. My ears flick back and forth in surprise, yellow green eyes glancing at him in open curiosity.

Then I recognize him as the wolf I met at Taviora's borders, the one who is so curious of all the packs. I smile and wave my tail in greeting, my eyes brighter in recognition. At his question, I glance at Astrid, wondering how she'll answer. Surely another set of teeth is never a bad thing. When Astrid greets me with bright eyes and a smile, I return the gesture, waving my tail as I get up and move in closer to hear the plan for the hunt. She answers Iscariot with a nod and my smile widens, glad to have another wolf in on our hunt. I nod in acknowledgement to her first words, ears pricked forward at full attention.

I move my gaze to the deer as she speaks about them, tongue reaching out to lick at my lips hungrily. When she speaks to Jinan, the quiet wolf, I turn my gaze on him curiously, wondering what he'll do. He looks surprised at first but then he turns to look over the deer and I can see him measuring them, calculating and I crouch into the tall grass, eager to start. He goes as if to bolt and I coil my back legs, ready to spring in his wake but then he hesitates, looking at Astrid as if unsure. My ears flick back a little but I hold my breath and wait, not wanting to take this moment from him. Besides, if I dart forward and no one follows then the hunt is lost before it is even begun.

I look over the deer, eyes focusing in on the smaller doe he was pointing to with his nose. I lick my lips again. My ear flicks back toward the others, waiting for someone to move, to signal, something, anything. All I need is the command to go.
