Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Zelda

Zelda was happy to see anyone she knew. She was still far too young to really feel anything towards boys other than friendship but she did know she liked Hyrule a lot. She didn’t have any brothers and she didn’t have any other cousins or boys she knew very well so perhaps it was because he was, currently, the only boy she has gotten to know. She considered him her friend for certain despite being so young she could feel his purpose and power behind him. There was something there that many others lacked and while she couldn’t put it into words she knew that he was, at the very least, special. Her wisdom in this would grow in time, already she was probably wiser beyond her age, though not by much currently it would grow as the next year or two would continue on. She would see and do more things much like him at least that was what she had hoped. Zelda couldn’t imagine what was going on in his kingdom; she simply knew they had lost their long time home. Her grandfather spoke very highly of his family as did her grandmother so she knew they were a great family of wolves and they all hoped they were alright.

However, at the moment she was more focused on the single angel that was before her. Hyrule had said he was exploring everywhere when they had first met and she wanted to do the same someday. All the things that she could learn from just exploring and meeting others, she wanted to do that. She knew of the bad things that were out there. The wolf that wanted to challenge her uncle was proof of that. But what of all the good things too? She couldn’t be scared off by the fact that was evils out there she would just have to work through them like everyone else in the world. What darkness that had grasped at the young adventurers heart that she admired she couldn’t fathom just yet, but surely someday she would understand and perhaps sooner rather than later.

She smiled warmly at his reply watching him as he took a seat next to her. Zelda’s tan and soft russet banner waved slightly as she watched him. When she said she kept her promise and he replied she teasingly said. ”So it was an accident?” He clearly admitted it and while she was young she was quickly growing more intelligent. It wasn’t like it bothered her he was still a strong wolf in her opinion just maybe not one that could move whole trees just yet. Someday though perhaps he would. When he said he would be king she honestly admired that type of confidence he felt. She didn’t find it arrogant, though perhaps others may. Confidence, she was told, was a good thing and having aspirations was a good thing too. He was a good wolf and Zelda believed that maybe someday she would be a ruler too when the time came. It was on both sides of her family and constantly Asteraia the land her grandmother had lost was on her mind. The forest, her other call to Royalty had her uncle upon the throne and he was currently giving his all to protect it.

What was a cheerful conversation turned suddenly sad. She had worried as such when his face fell that maybe the darkness had bothered his light soul, tainting it from the pure thing it was when she had first saw him in the forest. It would be pure again, it would just take time to heal of that she was certain. She could see it there, the hurt and something else burned. She never really had seen much anger but something was behind his eyes that was not normal, she assumed it was the darkness. Her face adopted one of concern as she leaned forward to meet his own eyes again blinking at him with her own bright teal ones hoping to understand or at least help whatever had changed in him.

He gave some good news though, stating they were all fine though she felt a little sad to hear his cousin had fled from them. She wasn’t sure of all that had happened or what the circumstances were that caused them but losing family was never a good thing. She was learning that all too well with her father and sister being gone and, while she never knew them, her father’s parents deaths still hovered over her at times. It seemed Hyrule had much to say on the matter he seemed a bit hesitant at first but Zelda was happy he felt safe enough to confide in her how he felt. Her heart went out to him, and his family for the trials they had to face. Her Grandfather Coza always said they were powerful and strong together. He liked the angel family and what they had given to him and she had talked much with him about his past and history that he was willing to give to her. His gaze returned to her own and she still held a look of concern beyond that of a normal child’s and a comprehension to go with it.

She understood it differently than he. As Hyrule explained what he had said her face turned into a scowl her ears falling back more so as he continued. She understood it made sense in a way different to his own understanding. Only once he was done did she reply.

”I am happy you are still proud of what you are. My grandfather, he is very loyal to your family still and that says a lot of your entire family. That wolf… Covet you called him, he is filled with darkness. Darkness tries to taint the light in any way it can. That anger… it is normal my Mother felt it for the female who had killed my grandmother… and so didn’t my father, but you can’t let it take over. You said you didn’t feel like yourself. It’s the evil and darkness it wanted to take over you, but you fought it off, you knew what Covet said was wrong and he was wrong. I haven’t met many angels, but I know Astraea and the words of Grandfather and Grandmother. Your family is something to be proud of Hyrule. Don’t let anyone filled with darkness and hate tell you otherwise ever… And don’t stop being you, you are light and while there is light there will always be shadows but you are stronger.”

It was a lot for a girl her age to say perhaps if she was older she would have been able to put it more eloquently. A lot of it was similar to how her mother put things to her and her grandfather, but her grandfather always said to try and help those lost in darkness. Some he said were too far gone, but never should someone give up and Zelda felt the same. She would help Hyrule until he was full of light again and take in his darkness whenever given the chance. Zelda didn’t want to see him go down. She never let he darkness take anyone, especially her friends, if she could help it.
