Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Dragonfly’s mind wandered in attempt to predict also who they would send her way. A loner, surely; she certainly didn’t want to be tied down to a pack. Packs made her nervous, really. They were a fun place to visit, but always seemed to have pockets of severity in them. She pictured a young wolf, maybe just looking for a mate as well. She thought that certainly all males over the age of six were taken. And oh… gray. Gray wolves were always a safe bet. Generic, maybe, but then they were forced to make up for the easily overlooked color in personality and skill.

Her thoughts gave her lips a soft grin as if she were entertained by a clever joke, as she instinctually caught on to her sense that a wolf was approaching and she looked in his direction. Her ears popped forwards, started by his silent approach and her eyes stretched a bit wider as he observed her form. She concluded by his astonishment of her, that he was her date, and that she was perhaps not at all what he expected.

Like wise, she hadn’t expected such a unique, sleek suitor. His glossy, ebony fur. was in stark contrast to her untouched silver coat. She was intrigued by his markings. The silver accents of his cheeks and ears made it appear as he were wearing a black mask over his true face. Her heart fluttered when he proceeded to her and sat before her with a gentlemanly bow. Her ears flicked to the sides shyly, but his words gave her a bit of confidence. Thank goodness he knew how this worked, because she’d have totally just blanked on all of her previous ideas otherwise.

“I got romping, roaming, and mischievous in tails, fella, but I might have to send you the other way if you’re not the clever, adventurous, able-bodied male that I ordered?” Dragonfly asked him with a humorous glint in her fuchsia eyes, thinking it engaging to both make fun of expectations and a splendid way to introduce interests.

She didn’t know how to gage his age and it didn’t occur to her to ask. He was a mature adult, certainly, but she couldn’t smell the different between an adult and slightly older adult. What she could infer from his smooth recovery was that he’d been on dates before and that was absolutely relieving! She’d have someone to guide her through her first date.
