During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

But It’s Always There; My Dark Passenger

_________________________________________________________________________

The long legged female followed her father through the trees, curiosity filling her as to where they were going. She knew that Akuji could tell she was itching to ask where they were going, but she remained silent. Really it was torture for the femme to not know what was going on, and her father had to know this, so why keep her in the dark? As she thought about it she wondered if she should be suspicious of him. Was this some kind of test for some new training? She was unsure. Excitement filled her at the thought of the unknown, trusting the male whole heartedly. Her black tipped paws crunched in the show, and she was glad that they were walking a pretty decent pace as it got her blood flowing. She was always so cold with all the snow and freezing rain that if felt good to be warmer for once. As Shasta walked side by side with the male she realized how close in height they were. If she only grew a little taller she would be equal to him. She thought it would be funny if she ended up being taller than her father. All her memories were of her looking up to him, both literally and figuratively.

As the pair came up to the border of another pack, from the scent of it it was Munashii Gekko, she turned to him with confusion on her face. Visiting another pack was not going to be as exciting as some new training exercise like she had imagined in her head. But her father continued to keep whatever their mission was a secret from her. She decided it was best to be patient and he would tell her in time what was going on, or she would figure it out. Her form sat in the snow, wrapping her thick plume around her skinny limbs for warmth. After a few moments she heard another varg approaching, no doubt answering Akuji’s howl. Shasta got to her paws, shaking her pelt out quickly, brown orbs looking at the trees to see who would emerge. Her chocolate brown orbs spotted another kalak approaching, another male, with a rabbit in his mouth. She thought that was odd, why would he dad have called for something like that? Maybe he had just been hunting and wanted to see who was at the borders. A smile came upon the strangers features, as if he knew them, and he placed the hare at her paws. She gave him a confused look, not sure why he was giving her this, though it was her favorite meal. When he spoke to her, it only made her confusion grow. “Shasta it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. And it is good to see you again Akuji. I welcome you both to Munashii Gekko.”

Before the female had a chance to ask who this was, or what was going on her father spoke up, finally explaining the situation. "And it is good to see you, Horizon, though clearly you would belong better in Cold Summers. Shasta, this is my friend and brother, on my father's side at least. I met him today and he is a good fellow. I've decided that he would be a good mate for you and I would like you to get to know him, and let me know what you think. He even brought you your favorite meal!" Shasta never thought she could feel this much anger towards her father, who she normally looked up to and adored. Her fur bristled and she growled at both males. How dare either of them think that they could decide this for her? Sure, this Horizon was handsome, a fully grown kalak with a beautiful shining copper pelt and long stilts like her own. But that was beside the point. No amount of attractive looks could make up for it. Her paw lashed out and kicked the rabbit back towards Horizon, declining the gift immediately. ”You don’t get to decide that, father.” She spat at him, words tumbling out between growls. ”I don’t know why either of you thought this would be a good idea. You’re both idiots for thinking I would take a mate not of my choosing. I don’t need a male. I can take care of myself.” Her tail lashed out in anger as she kicked at the snow with a paw, debating if she should just leave, but the obedient part of her made her stay with Akuji, despite her anger.
