aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Sebring watched as floods of emotions poured through the little brutelings eyes. Her heart ached to watch him feel her pain, even if it was only a fraction of the pain which she had endured. And as his façade transformed from sad to confused she found herself falling quiet. Tarly picked up in her place, his smaller voice echoed around the pair in their secluded arena. Pains flared in her chest as she saw the tears well up in his eyes. He was a sensitive one, he had his heart on his sleeve but not on purpose. It was the way in which he was programmed. Her tongue wiped away the salty tear and he flinched under her touch but remained there, listening ever intently to her words. Her past was a relatively sensitive subject still, even with the years of space between her and her father. It had not been long ago that she had almost drowned in her own sorrows. The laps of lake water at her emaciated bodice had threatened to pull her under, the ashen terra of Blossom Field had scared into its grasp. She had run until her limbs could run no more. That was how she had happened upon Aurora and more importantly, Kalgalath. The man who had saved her life, brought her back to life, and she was now about to bear his pups. She was about to bring life into the world. They had come full circle in their own little way.

Tarly’s fear of Kalgalath was unusual to the ashen Queen, but she was particularly biased in that area. She hoped that as Tarly grew into himself that he would gain the confidence to 1) be himself and 2) be comfortable about it. Sebring had been afraid for many years of her younger life. And even now there were nights when Kalgalath would still have to comfort her. The stirrings of pups within her womb had stirred awake the many painful memories of her puphood. She felt unprepared, she was scared and she didn’t know if she could it. How could should she, the girl who had never had a puphood, be expected to raise two pups of her own? Kalgalath knew as much as she told him, but she remained quiet about a lot of it. She did not want to relive the pain, the screaming and the crying. She wanted to move foreward, but did that require her to move backwards? She thought naught, and she hoped she would be right. But those worries would saved for another day, she had a terra to explore and a lad to take with her.

Tarly’s face had brightened at her words, and she was glad that he was relaxing into her presence. And as she gently nudged him he did not flinch, rather he smiled. He rose to his paws and shook out his pelt, smaller dust particles fell from his pelt and the markings across his mane became clearer. They were unique and beautiful. She smiled down at her multihued steely companion as she rose up to her own paws. She gave a gentle shake of her pelt and stretched out her back feeling the vertebrae pop back into place. A soft sigh escaped her lips, Magic is great and I’m sure she’d love to see you. She’s not like me, she likes to talk and spend time with others. But I don’t mind talking to you. Sebring smiled a little wider, her pearls glinting in the afternoon rays. She was happy to know that she was easy to be with. It was a confidence booster to her and her future ability to be a mother. Even though she wasn’t Tarly’s mother she was happy to teach him and help him learn in any way possible. We can go wherever you’d like. Sebring nodded, trying to dredge up places that might be of interest to the little brute. Well I always found the best to learn was to just wander around. And even though I might know this place like the back of my paw, I’m bound to find something new every time I go for a walk. Sebring focused her honey pools on Tarly and smile still lifting her lips. A little stroll around Aurora just to see what we can see. Sebring’s tail wagged slightly as she began to step forward, pausing enough to let Tarly catch up to her.

The clearing in which they sat was surrounded by undergrowth making it one of the more protected areas in Aurora. And it was positioned near the center of the pack meaning they could go anywhere they wanted. The sun hung high in the sky and the ground was illuminated by little spots that had broken through the growing foliage. She pushed aside the brambles creating a hole for Tarly to squeeze through and she followed him promptly through. Right? Left? Or Straight ahead? Her voice broke the bird calls that were sung above their heads. She looked down to Tarly, she wanted him to take charge, she wanted him to learn what he wanted to learn. And giving him the choice seemed a good place to start. The more interest he had the more likely he was to retain the things which he learned and saw.
