aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

GWAINE

Kalgalath’s sons were quite the pair. Their personalities, like fire and ice, balanced each other out. Vladimir, loathe to trust and skeptical, and Castiel, the more trusting and friendly of the two. They were good for each other. They needed each other to be the best they could be. Gwaine thought back to his own days as a little scamp. He had been a little troublemaker, that was for sure. His poor mother. No wonder she’d always been so worn out. With all of his antics, it was a surprise she’d put up with him. Hell, Gwaine wouldn’t have put up with himself. That was just how parents were he supposed. Perhaps one day he would understand that, but for now he was perfectly content watching someone else’s kids grow up to be fine members of society.

Gwaine smiled as Castiel led the way to the den. His forthcomingness was refreshing in comparison to his twin’s silence. Not that the earthen warrior could really blame the kid. He was still a stranger after all. The trio stopped in front of a den, presumably Kalgalath’s, and Castiel called in for the Alpha, “Father! There’s someone here to see you!” For good measure, little Vladimir ran inside the den and in a less the quiet voice, said, “Father wake up you have to kick someone out.” Gwaine stifled a laugh. Now that was what he had been like when he was young. Kalgalath apparently had not heard Vladimir’s first demand that he wake up as another one emerged from the den. This one brought the Alpha out into the open.

Chocolate gazers brightened in seeing Kalgalath. He listened to the gray’s speech, shooting Vladimir a look as if to say, “Told you so,” his eyes twinkling in a friendly manner. He turned his attention back on his friend, smiling. “Just the man I wanted to see. I must say, it is good to lay eyes upon you too. Quite simply, I have decided that, as much as I do enjoy the life of a loner, I miss having a pack.” Gwaine held back a chuckle, catching sight of Vladimir’s open mouth. Was it really so shocking that he should not be turned away? “Yes, quite a pair they are. I’m honored to be the first. Congratulations, by the way. I know I’m a bit late, but better late than never, as they say.” Gwaine glanced over to the elder prince as he apologized. “Water under the bridge, Vladimir.” He assured the pup, giving the pair one last grin before they left to continue their adventures, leaving him and Kal to discuss things.

“I take it things have changed around here because last time I was here, you were very much pupless. I hope you’ll give me the honor of meeting the lucky lady someday. You’ve gotta give me all the tips on getting one.” He winked at Kal before suddenly shifting to a more serious tone. “How’s the pack holding up?” He knew that a few packs had been disbanded recently and though Aurora Borealis was not one of them, it never hurt to know the status of your new home. More than that, Gwaine wanted to know how he could be useful. If this was to be his home, he insisted on pulling his weight.
