The howl on the wind was distinct and inviting. Dragonfly’s ears eagerly search from the exact direction of the howl, thinking the quality of the voice familiar. Was that Liquid Amber? Dragonfly’s tail waved happily. Thank goodness! She’d caught Liquid Amber’s scent once or twice, but because she had been so unwilling for company before, Dragonfly thought it best that she didn’t stalk that older female. To hear the call for company - and not just for one wolf, but for many - caused Dragonfly’s heart to soar with happiness for her acquaintance. Maybe she was coming out of her shell?
Dragonfly lifted herself onto her tiptoes, tilted her head back, and joined Liquid Amber’s howl. A solo for a wolf was undeniably lonely, but a duet spun through the wintery wonderland like an opening instrumental to a concert. While Liquid Amber’s howl had demanded a response, Dragonfly echoed the tones in a cordial response. As their voices quieted, Dragonfly cantered out from the woods and into the fields where she knew she’d find her acquaintance.
Dragonfly’s bright pink eyes took on a cool purple sheen in the moonlight. She slowed a trot near Liquid Amber with her tail waving pleasantly behind her. She nodded greeting to her, and then shifted her gaze to see who else may approach the gypsy meeting. The festival at Taviora had been sadly small and Dragonfly missed the gathering in Spirance, so she was eager to meet new wolves. Maybe she would even score a date out of the deal? If she met a male who was a gypsy, they would certainly have interests in common and stories to share!
