Mercenaries indeed! I wasn't aware of the old man having decided that we were to split up but no one stuck together. It wasn't a bad spot, I figured, but I itched to do something with my skills. Tracking Elara had proven to be a fun time and the god's knew that I would never be ready to let her out of my sight. Still, I have to survive and following the tail of a lady, even one that I considered my lady, would not keep me fed and fit. I had taken off towards the fields to spend an afternoon capturing prairie dogs and
boy what a success I had this day. I had a pile of prairie dogs before they ever realized they had a mass murderer in their midst, each as fat as the last, and I gorged myself on a few. Their little bones were pesky but juicy to gnaw on so I spent some time doing that, ears flicking to and fro in annoyance when ravens crept forward to try and pick some away from me. Even a brave little fox appeared, flicking it's bushy tail, and I had grinned salaciously at it. Come on, little one, if you dare, but it was more intelligent than I gave it credit for and it waited.
When I finally had enough I napped, secure in the knowledge my heightened sense of smell would alert me. When I awoke from my slumber it was time to drink so I picked up the three prairie dogs I had left (what a stretch of the mouth!) and trotted to the lake. I dropped them unceremoniously on the sandy shore and waded in far enough to slake my thirst, pausing as a flash of white catches my attention. Silver, white, gray, he was a mix of colors I guessed. Small but still utterly familiar. My ears turn back in a devious manner as I grin towards him.
"Is that what silver bellied cowards do these days? Sunbath?" Okay for one I shouldn't say silver bellied considering MY belly was silver but I was
not a coward. Not that Israfel was one but damned if I hadn't taken a shine to picking on the kid. Needed to keep his head from growing too large, even if he hadn't given me any indication that it would. Maybe I suspected he had some great bloodlines, but probably I was just a jackass.
"Work doesn't come to those who laze away the day, boy. Get off your tail and come grab these."
Well, it wasn't like he had to know that I had lazed around my day right?
