The plains are constantly full of wind that cause the tall grasses to ripple like water. I am not yet tall enough to stand above the stalks, but I am content to look up through their blades at the waking world. The dawn dyes the sky in a gradient of burnt orange and pale blue-gray, like my eyes. I have no desire to be larger than life, for their is no greater beauty than to exist in harmony; I am life. My breath proves this to me, as it is similar to the wind and can shake the stalks of grass in front my nose just as easily as the breeze ruffles the plains. But these thoughts… secrets… truths, I keep sacred to my soul. I believe they are unspoken realizations that everyone understands. Though, I wonder sometimes whether or not Thoth knows the effortlessness of life; my brother seems more quarrelsome than most other puppies.

Despite the depth of my design, it’s rare that I am stagnant long enough to completely contemplate the totality of my perspective. The day was waking, and I had ground to cover, corners to explore, mice to chase, and Papa to follow. I look rabbit-like as I leap above the tall grass, my wide eyes searching excitedly for my family. They aren’t far; I can smell them! I bound in the direction of their scents and then launch myself upwards again to glance above the confines of the viridian bars. When I disappear beneath the sea of green, I scoot forwards again and a moment later, my head pops above the grasses for another observation of the rolling hills. Absorbed in the fun of bouncing through the grass and in the rustling of the grasses as I pass, I begin rocketing across the territory!

Just as my legs begin to fatigue, I blast out onto shorter grasses, were low shrubs have inhibited the growth of the most abundant plant in Asteraia. As I break through the barrier into the clearing, I am thrilled by the sudden ease of running! I can’t stop myself from rocketing around the shrubbery as if I’m escaping an angry badger. The steady wind doesn’t hamper me as I slice through it like an arrow. Not even a vengeful spirit could stop my lightning paws! I had to keep sprinting. Run, run, run, Alouette! I could hear the breeze whispering. My breath began shortening, but still I wouldn’t stop. Not until my heart burst, I promised myself - or the wind. The feeling of endless energy was too precious to lay to waist, and at the moment, I was the only one around to harness the day’s vigor and so, I could not share it, and was forced to handle the sparking enthusiasm of morning on my own.
