Appearance:

Generally, Kaji looks the part of a young woman just coming into her own with long, red hair that floats on the currents of the air looking a bit like a flame colored nebula, hazel eyes with coppery embers glowing amidst a deeply glittering green and warm brown.

Personality:

Fiery, spirited and lively are the best part of Kaji’s personality. Her propensity for fear and anxiety are among her worst, to the point of experiencing panic attacks at the thought of being drowned or paralyzing fear stemming from memories of her time spent in the modern world.

History:

Kaji was a gaseous being, Ghyrian, from the planet of Eghyros. They are a highly advanced race, able to use energy to traverse great distances and observe other planets, but rarely interact. From other places, Ghyrians accept mythology as a way to personalize themselves. Also, they believe in reincarnation.

As she neared her hundredth birthday, Kaji chose to represent herself more visibly as a Fire-Dragon Spirit to be her totemic representation in this life.

It was later in her lifetime that another people started to be able to travel to her planet. Some, they made treaties with. However, many seemed unable to comprehend gaseous beings and saw their world only as a source of highly valuable elements. These miners came and reaped havoc.

While others conferred on what to do, Kaji was unwilling to wait for help through the treaties they had formed. Instead, she struck out, sending the miners flying through space in an uncontrolled fling. It is unknown whether they survived, but punishment for Kaji was clearly due.

A high elder council sent Kaji to Earth, changing her biology to experience the ephemeral world of creatures with a life cycle similar to those whom she had struck down in her world’s atmosphere.

It was hell. Kaji landed in Toronto. She was homeless; hiding from the great mechanical spiders she felt sure traversed the streetcar lines and dreading any glimpse of the lake south of the city. Cars honked. People spoke rapidly in many strange cacophonous languages.

As Kaji became catatonic, squatting in rundown garages, her family, no longer able to communicate with her, but only watch, argued with the elders that the punishment was too harsh. She was unlikely to survive if this kept up. As a gift of mercy, the elders placed Kaji instead on Shaman, making her a fairy instead. She is expelled from her own society for all time, but at least Shaman has less of the technology that originally terrified her so much.

Upon arriving in Shaman a remnant of Kaji’s old life, the least of her spirit, seemed to return. Her hair, although the main body where it connects to her scalp is opaque, is gaseous in form, floating, looking much like flame.
