Lazarus
This felt a bit different than other situations. Everything was still feeling different, but there was still that initial terror of meeting someone new. He wanted to battle it so badly, and...somehow, he felt it will be okay and easier this time. He could never be sure normally, but something was off, like he was breathing air for the first time without feeling that shiver of insecurity. Her staring would normally cause him to perhaps run or dig his face in the dirt, but instead he just peer right above the grass with his mis-matched eyes.
He was completely unaware that Aster was watching over him on this day. It would not surprise him, and he did not mind, but he simply was just so focused that he didn’t notice at first. He is fixed on the beautiful woman though that was in front of him, with her voice now ringing out and forcing his white ears forward to take it all in. She said it was okay and that he didn’t have to hide. He stayed still in a bit of shock, blinking a few times.
He then hears the shuffling near him and he twitches in response, his muzzle darting to see Aster coming upon him now, with her saying that the girl wants to talk to him. He gulps and nods, looking back to Zelda with wide eyes. It is like slow motion to him, the wind in her fur against the blue sky. Aster he would normally focus on and cling to, but he still does not move as he stares intently at Zelda. He then thinks, eyes growing bright.
”One moment!” he says quickly, turning and dashing to the left. His nose was to the grass until he came to a patch of yellow flowers, dandelions only a few strides away. He gathers them up with his mouth, then with surprising confidence, at least will be for Aster most likely, he trots back over like a pup with glistening eyes. He does not know why he driven to bring her flowers, but flowers have always been a sort of comfort to him. They were beautiful and smelled nice- they were a nice thing in the dark world. At times he would gather flowers close by to keep him company in his den when he was too scared to go out at other times. He simply wanted her to feel that comfort- not even knowing if she needed it exactly.
His white chest, with his bleeding heart, is puffed as he comes to glide right by Aster. He moves in a way he has maybe never moved before- fluid and graceful, like he was under a spell of sorts. He was so taken by her, and he did not notice a single flaw upon her. He does not stop at his normal distance- he goes right up to her until he drops the flowers at her feet. He drew his eyes from her paws to her face- inhaling her and feeling a bit...euphoric.
That is until he makes eye contact. The billowing confidence seemed to deflate as he realized what he just did. His jaw dropped slightly and his tail falls between his legs. For a moment her presence had freed him from the chains of his own mind, but those chains refused to break so easily. He looks as if he is about to say something, and then he simply inhales sharply. He turns suddenly, dashing to hide behind Aster as the effect seemed to wear off some. Her eyes were stunning and powerful- and suddenly he felt small and unworthy of her presence. He presses against Aster’s back side, staring at the grass as he tries to process what just happened. Was this normal? No, nothing like this has happened to him before. He is terrified and yet excited at the same time- the two similar emotions blending together and causing him great confusion. He begins to hyperventilate slightly, and now simply focuses on calming himself down as Aster hopefully handles the rest...she was always good at handling things.
