Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
a bit of poison, a bit of powder

a bit of poison, a bit of powder

The bitterness of her situation burned until it left her with little but resentment and a sort of violent depression that had no outlet save Starfall. To say that she was unkind to him was not quite truthful - she was merely infuriated by her circumstances. It is a wonder, in truth, that he felt any pity for her considering her past. Considering the warning he had given her and yet the image of him snarling pops up into her mind often. The way his handsome face had looked as hard as iron, his teeth as sharp as steel, as he threatened and raged and protected. Truth be told, she found it rather attractive, but such feelings were stumped whenever she felt the pain in her body escalate. The poppy that she was given in those times helped knock her out, helped her swim away from that sea of fury and despair and into a dreamscape.

Did that make her a Dreamwalker now?

There is a soft sort of gentleness that hands about Zelda but also an aura of regality. It isn't the same regalness that Arace carries, her grace always poised on the edge of violence and wickedness. Zelda's is more of a fair kingdom, of a princess turned to Queen, of all those beautiful stories told in puphood. Arace wasn't sure whether she admired or hated this Queen who would condemn her to a pit then save her life. Foolish or smart, she had yet to work out what the Queen gained from this. Because that was what life was - a series of checks and balances. Debts incurred and debts paid. It made her eyes focus with suspicion upon the face as Zelda ASKS her if she can come in.

Arace makes a slight tsking noise, almost a scoff, but a sort of sly smile edges her muzzle. "Do as you please, Savior-Queen. I am in your debt, I suppose. A life debt to a Queen. How poetic. I suppose that makes me a truely worthless assassin." Again, her voice turns self deprecating; it is a vast twist from her usual confidence, her arrogance finding an outlet. She had failed epicly since arriving in Molodian and she recognized that. Her previous alphess would have killed her, if she knew, and Arace would have allowed it because her honor demanded it. "But by all means, water sounds fine," she adds, her raspy voice heaving with a sigh. Then a pause before... "Thank you."

It makes her teeth clench to have to thank this girl but she is not without manners, when needed. Arace had come here as an actress and now was laid bare before them, a broken, useless thing. They could end her in a moment if they wished it and despite her internal fury, the survivor in her wouldn't go down without a fight.

The Queen enters only to seat herself at the edge of the den, so.... thoughtful. Appropriate. It further drove home her original perception of the Queen. Her heart was light and golden, not winding and filled with shadows like Arace, who lifted her tapered muzzle to focus upon the female. Winter had set in and her fur, spotted with healing and wounds, had thickened. The sienna that dotted her muzzle seemed brighter in the winter, overshadowing the black and the white, but her bottom half was always pristine in the winter. Now, though, she looked as she felt; disgusting. The fur had been cleaned only minimally due to the healing everywhere and was growing oily and stained with dirt from the den floor. She hated it.

Not a prisoner? She blinks at the words, slowly, considerately, while listening to Zelda talk. Her face has grown expressionless, that sly smile having disappeared. "I haven't done anything else," she suddenly interjects. Besides the whole Sleekwing incident but she didn't count that since it was well before any of this had happened. Not that she outright admitted to Eleanor's death - even to Pine. "I do not understand you." Clear cynicism in her eyes, her voice, as she peers at Zelda. "I came into this pack, attacked one of your own, and yet now you seek to offer me guard and care. In the eyes of Iromar, I have been condemned. I always thought you pack wolves stuck together on such things." There is poison in her words, ears folding back slightly. Arace was a mess and yet her movements are still graceful, elegant in nature as she lifts her head.

Her eyes harden at the words of Zelda and there is silence before she looses a slow breath. "You may think me a common murderer, a knave, a miscreant, but I am bound by codes as surely as you are. Codes that I have given my entire life, entire being to. It would dishonor me to reveal my own life debts to you. Suffice it to say that I have paid my weight in blood for one of those debts. I cannot tell you, I will not. But I owe you and for that I will give you my word, as fickle as you might think it. I will not harm any here in your pack nor will I cause you undue problems in my time of healing. And one day, when you have need, I will repay the debt I owe you."

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
