The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

It wasn't the easiest thing to do, traversing the distances between Spirane and the grotto, especially for one with her difficulties. Even a trip of a rather moderate distance could take two or three times as long depending on how cooperative her legs were being. Today was a fairly good day which mean that Aine felt rather clear-headed and in control; which wasn't always the case. She'd only had to stop twice so far due to dizziness and miraculously her legs had only gone wonky once.

Having been this way for as long as she could remember, Aine took her peculiarities in stride, though she was a bit self conscious around those who didn't know her or her condition. Perhaps that was why she was so attached to Janus; that and despite vague feelings of familiarity when she'd seen Cato and her love for Haven, Hollowpoint, Remi and Win, Janus was the first memory she had and the strongest.

As Aine picked her way down into the caverns that made up the grotto. She was sniffing ground, trying to find her brother's scent trail when her vision blurred and the ground below her began to rise and fall. Despite knowing what was going on, her body locked out her rational thoughts and her legs tried to compensate, causing her to weave and high step through the cavern. "No, no, no...sit, just SIT!"

Aine's back legs gave out and she abruptly plopped down though her front legs didn't immediately stop working and sent her toppling on her side as a wave of dizziness crashed over her. Body stiff, the young woman eased herself fully to the ground and lowered her head, lemon-kissed eyes staring straight ahead as she waited for the dizzy spell to pass. Typically her episodes occurred with more frequency when she exerted herself, which of course meant that she was destined to be rather sedentary for the rest of her life, barring some miraculous recovery. Sighing, Aine readjusted her head on her paws and patiently waited for the dizziness to subside.
