The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

I'LL BE YOUR DEADMAN

STUCK IN YOUR WONDERLAND
Ramos’ ears pushed forward atop his pale skull at the sound of her soft, clear voice and he could’ve sworn he could hear the swishing of fur as though she were wagging her tail. He let out an amused huff and with it some of the built up tension in his muscles and gut. Finally, someone who could understand a little humor no matter how dry.

He pushed his way in deeper until he could better see the dark female and stopped dead in his tracks.

Her eyes were different. Well, the one was different. Not different like Blackthorne’s. They weren’t brooding, dark and murky except when the light caught them or emotion flared up. No, Ramos found the crescent shape the cupped one of her pupil’s fascinating and intimidating all the same. When she had looked back to him, a back leg lifted tentatively as though he may step back. All the while his weight shifting, maybe a bit too noticeably, as he tried to remove some of the pressure the involuntary movement had caused his right shoulder. The cold wasn’t kind to the old claw marks that lay hidden beneath his thick blonde and cream pelt.

She seemed to be regarding the large brute with genuine curiosity, the tilt of her head making that one eye stand out even more to him. The stranger was quite the young little thing from what he could see of the fluff that still clung to her. But it didn’t seem like it was her lack of years that made their interaction a little... odd. Ramos could sense there was something off about her. It wasn’t that she was diseased or injured or submissive as she seemed confident even cornered in a dark cave with a massive male wolf in the dead of winter. Her aura reminded him a bit of an old Seer from his homeland. She had a surety about her that leached off onto him and slowly brought his one raised paw back down to earth.

She spoke again, cutting into his thoughts, and out came a question about the weather. He flicked his tail and let out a quiet, rumbling chuckle. "It’s still goin’, love. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wind brought in a storm." The great cream brute lowered his head, turning to glance over his shoulder towards the entrance of their particular cave. "There were clouds gathering on the horizon last I checked. "

He turned back to her, keeping his head relatively low still. He gave her time to reply before he spoke again. "Are you just getting out of the elements this evening? If I’m intruding you can simply shoo me off." One edge of his black lips curled slightly as the last sentence escaped them. He could not quite get over how small she was and shooting him away forcefully would not work out in her favor. His pale yellow-green eyes danced across her star-flecked form, taking her in in more detail. She was young, yes, but not young enough to be this small without being malnourished or being predestined by her lineage to lightness. Then again, Ramos came from mountainous terrain far to the north. You had to be big to survive.

His offer was sincere, however. She just had to say the word and he would go.
