Electric Cars Posted on April 13, 2022 at 05:34:18 PM by Reddy Kilowatt
Needless to say, I’d LOVE for everyone to have electric cars, but there are still many limitations.
The batteries we have now are good for about 250 miles per charge, and they take 2 to 3 hours to charge. Not practical for over-the-road trucks or delivery vehicles like UPS, FedEx, USPS or anything that requires all-day vehicle use.
To work and back? To school and back, or a trip to the grocery store? Fine. Two to three hours for a re-charge? Well…
Do we want to have the travel limitations and the hassle of having to plug the damned things in all the time? No.
But - - -
Do I think we’ll be willing or able to give up our internal-combustion cars over the next 7-to-10 years? Hmmm…
Some of us, myself included, don’t live close enough to public transportation, and we can’t afford new cars. Others won’t want to give up their 1955 Chevys and their 1969 Mustangs.
Really, we’re just getting started with electric cars. I think we’ll figure out how to get greater distances and quicker charges from our batteries. And, who knows? Maybe we'll find something else, and the folly of electric vehicles and batteries will make us laugh.
Hang on, this could be a wild ride...
