Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

Summer had found the Lagoon, and with the unrelenting heat came the droning of endless insects. He'd taken to wallowing in the cooler marsh areas, and was seriously considering rolling in the thick brown muck as an extra layer of protection, smell be damned. The sound of a plaintive cry, however, stilled his thoughts and etched a frown onto his lips.

Rehoboam held no rank yet, and was not entirely certain that his brothers would back him, but he couldn't hear her cry out and not do anything about it. Sighing softly, he shook himself off and jogged hastily out of the water with a few good lashes of his tail to dissuade the buzzing crowd of insects.

The mare wasn't hard to find - she was a giant here among the lowlying swamp - and had a young child standing terrified at her hip. Inwardly, he muttered a curse and huffed out a long suffering sigh, but outwwardly he offered only a frown. Reh didn't try to be sneak or to hide his intentions from her or his brothers and nickered to the mare in greeting as he approached, his gaze sweeping away from her to search for the brother that had ripped them from their home. Seeing none, he settled somewhat close to the mare and child (letting the mare keep her body between them) as an indication to whoever it was that she was not going to be harmed. Reh didn't know if Nahawi would release her, too, but he would not hold his breath.

Not with the young stallion's actions ricocheting all over the place and an election looming.

"Welcome." He said dryly, dark-rimmed ears tipped back. "I'm sure you know where you are, but I'm Rehoboam.''" He trailed off for a moment, not wanting to overwhelm her. "I'm guessing you aren't here on vacation?" It was a rhetorical question of course - she didn't look like a new mother on the hunt for her child's father, or an old flame come to search out an old partner. She looked terrified, and he couldn't blame her. "Where are you from?"
