Just an outline made of skin

Xanti was a bit confused as the mare did not return his greeting, but she didn't seem to do it to be rude. Perhaps where he had come from was full of customs others did not not practice nor even know about. He blinked and watched as she greatly relaxed after he drew away. Trying to keep from being offended, the dark stallion shifted his weight and hoped that he had not done anything wrong in her eyes. It was always embarrassing to mess up, especially if you thought you were doing something right. Xanti's eyes glanced behind the mare to see if anyone had followed her. Only the blue waves lapped at the shore and no bodies appeared to be bobbing along in the distance. His gaze flickered back to her and he offered a small grin. He didn't realize he would be so poor at conversations after just a year.

The dark mare answered his question, making the grullo's grin broaden. Although she was stumbling over words a bit he was glad it didn't sound like she was being chased or running away from anyone. Besides, he had never had the chance to talk about anyone taking a dip through the ocean before; it was actually more exciting than he thought it would be. Pressing his ears forward as the mare spoke again, Xanti was quick to reply. "Yes, it is. Have you ever taken a stroll through a desert before?" Although the his dunes were not quite like a desert, the grullo still found himself attached to the word. Perhaps it was because he enjoyed saying it or because he was too attached to his old home, but did it really matter? A large and hot area filled with sand would always be like a desert to him. Unless it was a beach, it just wasn't the same with saltwater right there.

The grullo noticed the mare's eyes wandering to the path which he had come from. "Would you like to see it?" He questioned, ears pressing even harder forward. Xanti had already gotten over the slight discomfort the beginning of the conversation had brought. Now he was just hoping to share the home he had slightly explored. He thought it would be much more fun to have someone to talk to than just wander through his land by himself. Some at his birth home might have disagreed, but they hadn't really been introduced to the concept of large territories and no herd. And if Xanti didn't like what he had stumbled upon, he would have turned back and gone home. Taking and few steps back and tossing his mane, the stallion grinned at the mare.
