Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Kendry swung his gaze back to the roan stallion as the other male spoke, his expression still warm and relaxed. He nodded once at Rade’s words, impressed at the authority in both the palomino’s posture and tone. Kendry knew very little about herd life. He understood his own experience was uncommon —a single mare and her child living with a stallion who had not fathered the foal was rare, he thought— but he also had no desire to strike out and discover just what herd life actually was. From what Rade was saying, Kendry thought he could make a home here with the bachelor herd for awhile.

And later, if he felt like it, he could move on. Nothing in life was permanent. He tipped his chin towards his chest and pushed his ears toward Rade. The emphasis on the word man implied to Kendry that the other stallion did not yet see him as such (and nor should he, really; the draft boy was barely out of adolescence), and he rose readily to that challenge. He would prove he was a man, and worthy of joining the herd of stallions that he know knew lurked somewhere further in the territory.

He was so intent on Rade that he’d forgotten about the smaller male, the one who had first approached him and demanded to know his identity, until the buckskin tobiano spoke up and distracted Kendry. His blue eyes snapped to Milo, though he kept one ear twisted toward the older stallion. While neither of his companions had verbally asserted dominance over the other, the young draft was inclined to believe that Rade held more authority than the spunky stallion who now introduced himself. “Good to meet you, Milo,” he said with a quick smile. He wasn’t sure why anyone would seek the bachelors out to “poke” at their morals, but he tucked that tidbit away in the back of his mind as something to question later in the conversation. For now he was more interested in how to become a part of the herd.

His eyes flicked back to the as-of-yet-nameless palomino roan. “So. What does a man need to do to to get accepted around here?” he asked.
