�Is this shiny enough, Flynn?� Dylan asked holding up his brother�s helmet and gently spinning it around on his fist so that Flynn could inspect it. He was sitting on the opposite side of the table with one leg cocked over the other and his sword across his lap. Dylan had wanted to sharpen it for him but he hadn�t thought that a particularly good idea. Fortunately, the boy had been easily distracted with a different, less pointy, job.
�Shiniest I�ve ever seen it,� Flynn replied with a grin, �I�ll blind anyone who tries to get into the castle...with my head.� Dylan laughed delightedly, picked the helmet up and ran across the room shouting for his sister.
�Look Renn!� Flynn heard the boy enthuse from behind him.

Flynn resumed his work on his sword blade with a contented sigh. They had managed, between them, to lapse into a little routine of domesticity. It was a state that, for a while, Flynn had thought forever lost to them. It wasn�t perfect; they still shared their grief for their father, Renn still worried over Henry and they had all been robbed of their magic, but over the years Flynn had learned that it was the small things that mattered. Some days it was enough just to see Dylan and Danny laugh.

A knock sounded at the door to their rooms and Flynn barely had time to move before Dylan shouted �I�ll get it!� Lunarian heaved himself up off the rug and bounded after his young fairy. When the boy pulled the door open the tiger stuck his head through the gap to peer out into the hall. Dylan smiled at Ellie, �hello!� he said brightly, �can I help?�

�Who is it?� Flynn called, and Dylan withdrew his head back into the room to answer. �A lady,� he shouted back, �with a cat. She�s very pretty,� he paused... �the girl, not the cat.� Lunarian snorted and lowered his head down to Flo�s level, �not that the cat isn�t pretty too,� he winked.
