EVREN

Evren knew now that she had been naive. She had arrived on the crossing isle full of hope and excitement, never thinking for a moment that it would not be just as safe there as it was in her home.

And so she had watched the stallion come with passive curiosity. He was the first male she had ever encountered that was not a relative, and so it was with a keen eye that she took note of his impressive build and enigmatic manner. It was only when his stance changed and he began to charge her that she realized he might be a threat. She pinned her ears and swung her hindquarters toward him, threatening to kick, but he persisted and by the time she had registered her change in surroundings, he had chased her into the sea.

Disoriented as she was, she could only hope that she was swimming back in the direction of home. By the time she realized she wasn't, it was too late to turn around - her legs ached with every stroke and her lungs burned from the fast, erratic breaths she took. She had no choice but to make for the first bit of land she saw if she did not want to drown.

When they arrived on the beach, Evren gave her alien surroundings only a passing glance before lurching ahead to put some space between herself and the stallion behind her. She swung around to face him, brown eyes blazing and multicolored tail cracking like a whip, and did not wait for him to get his bearings on land before she confronted him. "What do you want? Why are you chasing me?"

She was tired and did not understand what he could possibly want from her when they did not even know each other, but she would be damned if she did not try to resist whatever fate this stallion had planned for her.
