She felt like they were becoming more of a whole happy family again with Malleah feeling better and that gave her hope. Though she'd never really lost it in the first place. She could feel the love between her parents and she felt lucky because surely every child should get to see their parents happy and together. But everyone got in see that, right? She wasn't around other familys to really know that there was unhappiness too in the world, and pain and hurt. She hadn't been around any of it yet. But her mother was growing stronger and that's what mattered. Lucia pressed against Malleah as her mother started to lick and groom her. She loved the attention, laughing and pawing gently at her mother's face just because it was a habit. When she told them about the treasure, her mother pulled back though, cautioning her about being careful and she snorted. "We're always careful, momma! Don't worry. Aeon is going to be big and strong and I'm fast enough to get away." She giggled, thinking that very clever that she thought of running instead of fighting. Aeon could handle that, surely. Then her mother asked about Aeon and her eyes lit up. She loved talking about her best friend! "He's my best friend! I met him in the crags. Mia met him too! I don't know where he lives but he smelled funny like water and salt and he's a strange color of brown and black, so pretty! And he speaks funny, momma. It's like a whole new language! She was sure her mom would be amazed just like she was.
She saw a new look in Malleah's eyes for a moment when she spoke of Aeon but when Exodus came into view, it faded just as quickly. Lucia was too distracted by the arrival of her dad to really notice anyway. She watched them embrace with a big smile on her face, her eyes lit up like candlelight before her mother said something about her having boyfriends. She tilted her head in puzzlement and looked between her parents. "If I can't have a boyfriend then what about a girlfriend? But please don't run away Aeon. He's fun and he's going to teach me the language!" Tears started to well up in her eyes as she looked at her parents pleadingly.
