Like diamonds in the sky

Solaris

Another day was coming to an end. This day was just a boring as the last had been, just as depressing. She often saw glimpses of her mother's form around the Inlet, but she never dared the approach. The last time she had, Celestria had nipped and chased her away. Solaris is could still remember the sound of her own squeals as she swore her mother would kill her. A deep sigh left the filly, but her brown eyes soon caught a glimpse of another in the distance. She did not recognize the filly and knew right away what she must do.

It was sad to say, but Solaris has been trained for this very scenario. "Are you okay over there?" The bay overo calls to the young filly who looked around her age. She really didn't know what to say and honestly, she would have just walked away, but Warsaw would punish her for that. She was told to always address a strange female in their home and make them feel welcomed until he could arrive. "Don't let her leave," Warsaw would say. Sol could hear her grandfather talking as if he was standing with her.

Reality was Warsaw had gone to check the commons again and her family was left alone in the Inlet. Herself and her mother were trained to not let anyone leave. No one was allowed to escape or they might pay for it. The filly's eyes narrow as she begins to approach the red dun. Solar is realizes the sobbing filly was shivering so she quickly offers her body heat as some warmth. Brown and ivory press against the red of the filly next to her. Seemingly tough, Solaris found tears forming in her own eyes and she was soon sobbing as well.
