He watches in the background as his father and Xiomara make some kind of deal involving the future of Tinuvel. Requiem didn't get into the politics or any serious conversations involving his home. He did not particularly enjoy being a leader until the very end when he started to gain some mares, but that was when he became a target to the prying eyes of others. He didn't like being attacked or being forced to fight, but he would stand up for those he cared for. Tavas, Evie, and now Nampeyo. They all meant something to him and the longer he spent with them he felt a bigger bond.
He stays close to his small herd majority of the time, but there was one day he went to see Tavas. He missed her so much and he was worried about how she was doing so he went to see her. She had to know he hasn't forgotten her and that he was going to fight to get her back. It felt like the right thing to do at the time, but he returned home with a bite wound on his shoulder from the stallion that keeps her hostage. He returned home and returned to the awkwardness between Nampeyo and Evie. It seems the two still haven't been able to have a decent conversation with each other.
He asked his two mares if they wanted to stay with him despite the happenings on the Inlet. Both said they wanted to stay with him, to be with him. He knew Nampeyo wasn't his typical type, but she was no lier. If she wanted to leave she would let him no by whatever means she felt necessary. It was Evie who might hold her true feelings in and it was her his feelings were strongest for right now (aside from his equally strong feelings for Tavas). Requiem was still figuring out what he wanted and who he wanted at his side forever, but Tavas and Evie were big contenders.
Today, he left his mares for a short time to walk the border between the Inlet and the Bay. He lingers there for a bit, honey browns looking out into the Bay where he once lived. He recalls all the memories he had there in his months of ownership. Life wasn't always how he wanted it to be there, it was very lonely, but being lonely in the Bay was the very reason he found such joy in Tavas and made the call to claim Nampeyo. What he learned in owning a land was enough to help him grow into the stallion he was slowly becoming. Into the very stallion that fought to save Evie and protects her.
He turns from old memories and guides himself back towards his small herd, but he finds only one. |
