She tried again, reaching a single hoof into the water before resolutely setting it down in the wet sand. The shallow waves washed over her ankle and she shivered but clenched her jaw and made her hoof sit there. She did this for the next few minutes before daring to try with her other fore leg, repeating the same process and getting used to it before she did the same with a back leg, then the other. Finally, she was in ankle deep water, though she kept shifting and re-adjusting when she felt like she was sinking in the sand. At least here, she could see the bottom of the water, but she looked out over the waves in water. She wouldn't be able to do that out there. Yet her brows furrowed in determination. She wouldn't be able to help anyone by staying here in the Forest. Sure, this was her home and she hoped that never changed, but she yearned to venture out and meet others. She wanted to help the stallion Roheryn find his sister. She wanted to be able to help others. It made her feel complete somehow. Sighing, she ventured another step, repeating the same process as before until she once again had all four hooves almost knee deep in the water now. But the tide was rising and before she knew it, it was over her knees and she hadn't even moved yet. She gasped, feeling panic rising in her throat. Sure, she could race out of the water now. She turned her gaze to the shore, yearning in her eyes, but her wet tail swished in irritation and she shook her head with a snort. No. If she raced back now, she'd have to start all over and she'd never get out of here. Turning her gaze back to the open ocean, she let out a deep exahle. This was going to be a long day.
