sent from the heavens above...

Just seeing that smile was enough to make his day 100% better. He was lonely here. He had no one to talk to since Xiomara left. He knew no one and they seemed to have thier own cliques going on. He felt lost here, isolated. Solaris was a dose of bright sunshine on a rainy day. He could look past all their past miscommunications and arguments in the moment and just remember the first time he saw her. He couldn't stop himself from wanting to touch her, to know she was real and really here. What would have been icing on the cake was if Galexia was with her. She didn't pull away from his embrace so the buckskin stallion took that as a good sign. It had to be, right? Or she's just stringing you along, puppet boy. He grimaced past the voice and let out a tense breath, just wanting to relax in her presence.

He hated that things had gotten so complicated between them. He remembered back when things were easy, back when they were in the Inlet together the first time and he was so nervous everywhere they went, afraid he was going to get run off or beat up at any moment. Solaris was the first to bring out his confidence, to allow him to touch her and be with her. She was the first mare to show interest in him and he would never forget that and the feeling it brought to him. He couldn't help his curiosity, especially when it came to Galexia. Sure, he loved seeing Solaris and knowing she was okay, but the moment would have been complete if Galexia was here too. He missed his family dearly. There was a time when he would have held his tongue and his doubts, but that time was slowly passing and he was getting a little more open to speaking his mind. Unfortunately for the rest of us.

That first smell of another stallion on her skin was like a slap to the face that brought all his past doubts niggling to the surface. He started speaking before he could stop himself, but mostly he had this bad feeling in the pit of his stomach when it came to Galexia. Something wasn't right. Solaris told him their daughter was somewhere safe and with someone safe, but his ears flicked back and forth in uncertainty. Why wouldn't she give a name? He wanted to believe she wouldn't leave their daughter with a stranger, but who then? Rougaru? Was she even in Paradise? Solaris didn't smell like Paradise. For the moment, he was silent, though his thoughts were still troubled. He asked if the bay and white mare should be resting and she said yes but she came to find him. His ears pricked forward with interest, hope still gleaming to life in his eyes, still hoping they could find a way to repair their relationship, but he needed some answers first.

When she spoke of Xiomara getting chased off, he felt himself tense. He had grown to trust and admire Xiomara. She was a strong mare and had accomplished much. Why she seemed to covet his company, he couldn't begin to guess. Me either. He knew he was no special prize. His ears flicked back, still not liking the fact that he didn't know where Xiomara was or if he would ever see her again. Knowing Solaris was waiting on a response, he sighed and nodded. "Yeah, the lead mare beat her in battle and kicked her out. I...haven't figured out what I'm doing. I was going to come to Paradise to check on you and Galexia." He wanted her to know that she was never far from his thoughts, her or his daughter. When he asked where she'd been, the bay paint gave a sigh and his ears flicked back, somehow knowing he wasn't going to like what he was about to hear.

She said that her and Galexia were traded off and his body tensed for a new reason. A foreign emotion rose up in him, even as he listened to Solaris tell him they were property of the Lagoon. This foreign emotion was anger. He couldn't remember ever feeling this way, like his very skin was on fire, like he needed to hit something with his slender hooves or bite something with his teeth. He'd heard rumors about the Lagoon, a bachelor herd. He knew Solaris could handle herself but to know his daughter was around those stallions...it set his very blood to boiling. His eyes widened and he inhaled sharply, shaking his head before he looked at Solaris with new determination in his eyes. "We can't let her stay there, Solaris. Our daughter can't grow up as one of their 'trinkets.'" He said the last word in distaste. He'd heard what they call their mares, what they may even call Solaris. How could she be okay with this? What are you going to do about it? Cry?
