Jabari was determined to use his time on Atlantis wisely. War was imminent. He had squandered so much sulking around during his captive period in the Lagoon, wasting away his muscle condition and sinking deeper into a dark depression. The painted son of Shamwari was hardly amused to find himself a captive yet again - and by one of his father's sworn enemies. But this time, he would be different. He would be better. His home and his family depended on it.

For the most part, the Luthien-born stallion obeyed Rougaru and Celestria during the weeks he'd spent in Paradise. Jabari had seen what a short temper the silver bay stallion truly had. He was prone to react wildly and violently, and without thinking. Jabari wasn't afraid of his boisterous antics. Instead, the chestnut-and-ivory splotched stallion merely logged away this information for a later time. This intimate insight into how Rougaru operated would serve him well when the time was right. Jabari even refrained from scolding or pushing back against Celestria, despite their tumultuous history. He realized now that she viewed him as merely a pawn in this whole thing. She'd developed some sort of role from him to play in the battle to come. What the pale mare didn't realize was that Jabari was scheming away too, as he ate and hiked and ate and hiked, trying to add more bulk to his thin frame and build up stamina in his muscles and lungs.

He followed his former bachelor cronies, along with Cullen and Rougaru, from the shores of Tinuvel to Luthien. His jaw clenched as the hazy mass of his homeland came into view. He had been gone for long, and was foiled at every attempt he made to make it back here. Returning now, on the eve war, felt bittersweet.

Jabari's blue eyes watched as the stallions descended onto the Forest beach, each taking a different path into the shadowy trees that lay ahead. His gaze caught sight of Rougaru, and the painted stud trotted off after him. Jabari kept his distance under the Forest canopy, taking careful, light steps as he veered this way and that after the leader of Paradise. Rougaru moved quickly, and Jabari struggled to keep an eye on him among the dark trees at night, but what he couldn't see, he could hear. The deeper they went into Persephone's territory, the more vivid the sounds of war became. Jabari heard the squeals and grunts of others in the distance, which he couldn't make out in the midnight hour and through the thick brush. The clap of hoof making impact on flesh echoed through the night. He could feel his heartbeat as it vibrated in his ears.

Finally the path opened up to a clearing, and Jabari came to an abrupt halt. He surveyed the horrific scene before him. Persephone and Evren were locked with Warsaw. Foals and young mares scurried to get out of harm's way. His nostrils flared as he took in sharp, staccato breaths, and searched the crowded landscape for the silver bay brute. He watched in horror as Rougaru lunged at the Forest mares who seemed too distracted with Warsaw to see him coming. Jabari then lurched forward. His hooves struck the earth with everything he had as he willed himself to reach the stallion before he made impact with the paint mare. The son of Shamwari's lips parted and he emitted a gurgling, emotional cry as he hauled himself into Rougaru, hoping to knock the stud off balance before he struck the mare. Jabari then pivoted swiftly on his haunches to swing around, and his weight barreled forward onto his fore legs. He launched his hind end into an impressive buck, his white legs outstretched with all the momentum he could muster as he aimed his swift kick right into Rougaru's gut.
