First Breath After A Coma

I would honestly love you now,
But I would lovingly let you down.

Jabari listens with great interest as Calypso expresses her own surprise. He understands where she's coming from. He was here by way of Celestria and definitely not Roguaru. In some ways, he is surprised that Rougaru tolerates him being here at all. But having had some experience with Celestria, he also understands it is much easier to just give in and placate her, than to quarrel with the mare all the time. She was.... certainly a force to reckon with. He wonders briefly what Calypso's interactions have been like with the mare.

Jabari's chestnut ear lobes flick forward and back as she registers that he is, in fact, a captive here. A slave. A lesser form than the rest of them. It is embarrassing and his slinks somewhat in her presence now, perturbed to think that she might think less of him because of it. The stallion breathes a heavy sigh, the sides of his barrel rising and falling slowly, before he confirms this news with the solemn bob of his head. "Rougaru made it clear what the boundaries are." He says vaguely, wondering if she noticed the fresh notes on his coat. But Jabari knows it could be much worse. "I'm getting by alright." He says with pursed lips.

But then Calypso shares some news that shocks the stallion to her core. His blue eyes widen as he takes in his words, his face flushes into complete surprise. He couldn't believe that Shamwari would willingly lead her back into Rougaru's clutches, knowing what he does about the silver bay stallion. "What?" He questions in disbelief, his copper-colored tail flicking back and forth anxiously over his haunches. "I can't believe that." He says almost defeatedly. There must be more to this story, he muses internally. There must be an explanation... because how could Shamwari do such a thing?

He snorts loudly as he tries to let this angry, new energy leave his body, but he's now distracted by it. Calypso tries to bring him back by changing the subject, and he mulls over her words with his jaws clenched. "Home." He responds, even if thinking of Shamwari and the Prairie now leaves a slight sour taste in his mouth. "It's been so long since I've been home."

He offers her a sheepish smile and nickers kindly. "What about you? Does this place feel like home for you?" He asks, letting his gaze wander around the jungle for now. "Or where would you go, if you could go anywhere?"
