i do what i want

Boredom drove the buckskin paint from the sands of the Badlands and into the chilling surf, his strong legs churning to take him toward the mainland. There wasn't a whole lot going on in the herd right now what with everyone recovering from the war and gathering up who was still around and who may have been taken. It was all a big fiasco but something he wanted no part of. He didn't have a side in the war so he stuck back in the herd lands while Roheryn was gone. The stallion hadn't expected him to fight with him anyway so Kamekaze was pretty much fine to do as he pleased. And that's exactly what he did. He ran the borders some and played in the water and on the dunes, inviting anyone to join him. Few did, but that wasn't the point.

He was starting to feel a little lonely so he thought he'd go to the open lands and see if anyone wanted to socialize. He could probably be a good herd member and invite a mare or two back with him but then he might have to take responsibility for them or something and that just wasn't something Kamekaze was ready for just yet. Maybe he never would be. His friends growing up in the herd he used to belong to never understood why he didn't have dreams of leading a herd of his own some day and getting some mares and raising his children. That meant work and defending stuff and making sure everyone was happy and blah, blah, blah. Who wants that? He was content just to run around and do whatever the heck he wanted. But there was a minor catch: He loved to fight.

Sparring had become something fun to look forward to and there didn't have to be a reason. He just loved the feeling of adrenaline flowing through his body as he reared up and flailed his legs at a moving target. It was the kind of high he couldn't stop signing up for. As his legs made contact with land, he trudged up onto the snowy shores of the Meadow and shook out his gold and white coat. Snorting to blow out his nostrils, he shook out his wet mane and trotted further inland. Tossing his head, he gave out a whinny, wondering if anyone was close by. That's when he saw the red and white marked mare standing under the trees as the rain started to come down. Really? Rain? His ears slicked back as he gave another shake, as if he could dislodge all the future rain from his coat. A cold chill ran his spine and made him shiver before he took off into a gallop and headed for the trees himself.

He didn't want to come in on top of the mare so he aimed for a spot a little further down from where she was but he made sure she knew he knew she was there, one ear staying focused on her as he closed in on his destination. As he finally made it under the trees, he pranced to a halt and gave another great shake with a grunt of dissatisfaction. "Stupid rain. Ruining everything. Like it's not cold enough." He mumbled under his breath before turning his attention to the mare. One ear pricked as he gave a roguish smirk and tilted his head. "Fair weather we're having, right?"
