He knew that she could grow to like the desert if she gave it a chance. He could show her all the oases and the underground cave with the cool spring so she would have an escape from the heat of the desert. It used to be Geneva's favorite spot, but a lump formed in his throat at just the thought and his eyes stung for a moment. He blinked back the pain sharply and continued focusing on the mare before him. She didn't need that burden, not when he was trying to be a welcoming stallion and show her his pride and joy....his home. It may not be much to some and he'd even heard it called a wasteland but he thought of it as perfection with its rolling hills of sand and the thick grass you could find in patchy places throughout with fruit trees and many pools of water. It was all in the way you looked at it. He wouldn't be the healthy specimen he was if this was indeed a wasteland and not worth living in.

She had agreed to give it a try and that's all he could ask for. Maybe she would like it or maybe not but at the very least, he might make a friend and that was worth it. She agreed to have him escort her and said she wanted to familiarize herself with his home. He nodded with a small smile. "It would be an honor." He led her through the ocean to the shores of Salem and as they trudged ashore, he let her take everything in, patiently waiting before he stepped off to the side to shake out his coat before leading her further inland. He could see the curiosity in her eyes when he spoke of the rest of the herd and she asked what they were like. His smile was more genuine, more felt thatn ever when she asked that cause his herd would always be a sense of happiness for him, not matter the tragedy in his life. "They are full of life and different personalities but you won't find a cruel one among them."

He led her to an oasis not too far inland so she could get a drink and wash her mouth of the salt water. There was also ample grass and apricot trees that grew around the pool of water. Stopping to let her rest if she wished, he continued. "The Guardian is Harlequin. She's very spirited and some might find her confrontational but she speaks her thoughts and has the safety of the herd as her highest priority. Cerosi and Nasa are guests such as yourself. They were willing to come with me to the Desert and let me know later if they would like to stay. Both are kind and adventurous so don't hesitate if you see them. Mazarine offered to come to the desert with me. She's a very spritely red mare, very outgoing and moves with a sense of purpose. Melisma only recently approached me to stay here after I offered her a home in the Meadow. She's more shy and withdrawn, a quiet beauty who just needs to feel appreciated.

"Lastly, I still count Vihaan amongst my herd...though I don't know for how much longer." He looked away for a moment and swallowed, the pain clenching his chest once more before he could go on. "She went to visit her family on another island during a war that recently waged on the islands. She only recently came back...but things have changed between us and I don't know what the future will hold." He cleared his throat and tried to compose himself, looking back at the pale mare finally and offering a small smile. "There are also my sons, Akello and Carbon. Akello is a yearling and wanders around a lot. Carbon is still very new to the world and sadly, he's not doing so well. I have a second stallion as well, Scarecrow. He'd an older tall stallion but very polite and kind. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask him and I'm sure he'd help anyway he can." He pricked his ears then, wondering if he could answer any more questions for her as they walked.
