For all that she was, for all that she could be, Sakhmet found herself in the threshold of jealousy. It was a dark feeling, one that crawled it’s way deeper into her chest until it was nearly suffocating. But despite the ache that it was not herself that her beloved looked at in such a way, Sakhmet knew she could not bind the heart of her love, forbidding what was bestowed upon her at birth. Eness deserved the title and treasure that would be offered to her here, just as had been where they had escaped from. Nothing that Sakhmet had to bestow what she valued over her own beating heart would be what Eness deserved.


So as it was, when her two toned eyes opened to the inky sky and found herself alone, she was not surprised that her ears caught the hushed sounds of her beloved and the man who could not keep his eyes away the day they met. At first it was rage that flamed inside her, causing her legs to pull her lithe body from the sands to stand as the sword and shield she had carved herself to be. But she does not throw herself at them as she had thought she would. It was as if her hooves were caught in the churned golden grains beneath her, unable to carry her between what might very well be the end to what she held dear.


Caught between her burning desire, and her knowledge of what was right, Sakhmet was cursed to do nothing. Only when she turns away do her legs find freedom. They ache as if she has raced the sand filled winds of their homeland as she moves away, finding further distance from what she could not stand to bare witness too. Sakhmet’s love for Eness outweighed her own desires, and she would not be selfish despite how easy it would be. So, beneath the dark night sky, she walks alone among the strange dunes of her new home.
