live life to the fullest

She watched as the seasons passed and fall turned into winter. She'd been so restless during the fall months, wanting to see Roheryn more than anything, yet she'd been held back by that stupid fear. She stepped into the ocean a few times, even got in as far as her chest, but when the water got so dark that she couldn't see her own hooves, she felt that panic rising up and she raced back to shore. Even now, she sighed in defeat as she stood ankle deep in the water, watching the sun rise on another day. Now the air was growing more chilly and winter was well on its way. She didn't feel as restless, but she still yearned to see Roheryn again. When would he return to visit? She hated all this waiting. If only she could get past her fear. Stupid water! She stomped at the waves, splashing the icy water everywhere as she snorted and tossed her head. She hadn't expected to hear the familiar whicker, as if he'd materialized from her very thoughts.

Her dished face spun around, wide dark eyes setting on the pale stallion as he approached. A smile instantly tugged at her lips as she nickered back to him and trotted to meet him halfway. His muzzle caressed her shoulder and she let out a breath of contentment. Even his touch had a way of comforting her. His words were an echo of her own thoughts, telling her it had been too long, but his next words set an instant tingle of fear alive in her chest. Today was the day. She shuddered and swallowed. "Really? You'll help me?" The words were almost begging, wanting to know that he would be with her every step of the way. Maybe he could give her the courage she needed. He brought up how they met and her eyes twinkled with the happy memories, made even more joyous by the news that he found his cousin. She gasped. "Oh, good! Is she okay?" He didn't seem upset when he spoke about it so she had to assume she was, but it still seemed polite to ask.

It only reminded her of her own failure to learn how to swim so she could help him in that endeavor. She looked down for a moment, a scowl on her lips. She only looked up to continue listening to Roheryn, wanting to give him her full attention. He mentioned his herd again in the Badlands and said there was a mare there he grew close to. When he said they disappeared, her ears folded back in sadness. She wondered what had happened to them. Did they leave or were they taken? But his last words drew her from her thoughts, her body tensing as her eyes widened. He wanted her? Creed swallowed, her heart seeming to stop and yet skip a beat all at the same time. Did she hear him right? Her ears flicked back and forth in uncertainty but she forced herself to take a breath. "I....I..."

She tried to find the words, not wanting him to think she was rejecting him. Finally, she took another breath and smiled softly before leaning into him, her head nuzzling against his neck as she breathed him in and took courage from it. "I want you, too, Roheryn. And I want to be a part of your family. I want all that too."
