Nearly all of summer had come and gone, and Vera was dreadfully lonesome. Adrift in a sea of… of what? Bacardi said he was saving her from uncertain fate, but was this much better? Vera knew not. She didn’t really know what was happening anymore. There was a sadness, an emptiness, a lonesomeness that seemed to eat her from the inside. Had she turned into a living ghost in this place? That’s what it felt like. Adrift. Adrift afterall.
The days were growing shorter. Autumn would be upon them soon. Vera knew she could cope with the cold just fine, but could she cope with the chill of being on her own? Likely not. She’d taken to looking out over the sea, peering into the unknown. There was so much out there, but was there anything for her? Would there be anything for her? There was a strange feeling in her chest. Vera wasn’t a fan of that.
Tenderhearted as she was, Vera was… maybe a bit unwell. She could see the pale stallion as he made his way across the surf, watching with a soft curiosity. Who was he? He didn’t look… dangerous. He didn’t look aggressive. The stranger stood simply in the shallows, watching the Bay as she watched him. Finally, Vera’s curiosity got the better of her. She would leave the relative safety inland and cross to see just who he was.
Vera’s gaze was soft as she approached, calling out softly. It was a curiosity, her head quirking to the side. A greeting. She would close the distance between them, but leave herself enough space to run if need be. Right. That sounded like a reasonable choice. A bit of anxiety crept in, but she’d chase it off for now. It was only natural to be anxious around strangers… but she was safe here. If anything happened she could call for Bacardi, she could call for Valka. At least that gave her some stability. “Are you lost?” Honestly, Vera didn’t know what to lead with. That seemed safe enough, though. She hoped.
